4th gen turning radius....
Use the e-brake, it works for me
Just kiddin, I haven't had that problem, but if I did I really would just use the e-brake and swing the back around alittle

Are you guys just messing with me?
cause the only street where I dont have to make a broken u-turn is if it has 6 lanes.......... on a normal street with 4 lanes.. i have to make a broken u-turn and it's embarassing.

I've always read that the Preludes have good turning radius'.. And Mine turned very nice and easily.. Doesn't sound like your problem.. I don't remember how much room it takes me to make a U-Turn, since I haven't driven my car since May.. But U-Turn are also illegal here..
Sounds like something might be wrong with your steering though if it's that bad and you can only make a U-Turn in 6 lanes... :S Werid

Think so?
I've always had a 240sx, so I compare it to the turning radius of that.. and the prelude honestly... just is horrible when making u-turns. on normal corners it feels okay, but when i have to make a u-turn.. i need lots of space...
heck.. even my sisters 87 camry make a better u-turn..
WHAT"S GOING ON?

lol.. That sucks.. I couldn't honestly tell you somethings wrong since I haven't driven mine since May and can't recall how much space I need at the moment.. If my car was drivable I could go outside in my parking lot here at work, or our street and test it.... But... I don't have my car! So... Sucks for you AND me! Yay!!!....
I agree with you. The turning radius does suk, and I have a 4WS Prelude. When the 4WS doesn't work, it is even worse. My 325ci turns better than my Prelude, and the Prelude is shorter in length.
are you guys kidding me? i dont think the 5th and 4th gen are taht much diff and i can make u turns as long as there are 2 lanes on the other side. and one more thing. the prelude turning radius is something liek 2 feet shorter than the type s
just some info. picked it up somewhere tryign to compare my car to my friend's car before he totaled it lmao

I dunno what you guys are talking about, I make U-turns in residential 2-lanes all the time...you gotta get pretty close to the curb but it can make it

Yeah, I've never had any problems with my 93lude turning at all. I think she turns great! But I agree with the using of the e-brake, I mean hell...If you can't make a u-turn on a 6lane highway...Something is def fucked up! But like I said...I would use the e-brake if I were having that much trouble...and hell its even a lot more fun to use it!
i seriously think my grandfather's 94 Dodge Ram can turn sharper than my 97 base lude. I don't know if it's my steering rack or just the limit the wheels will turn. I do have to give props to the fact that that truck does turn pretty damn sharp.. atleast I think so for a truck.
no man, i've done many a u-turns in my day.. i'm telling you... this car will not pop a u-turn in a 4-lane street, barely in a 5 lane street,... i'm getting the feeling my steering rack is fukked
You might have a bent steering arm - most likely, thats the problem. See, steering radius is built into the steering system.....its not electronic or anything.......
Look at the steering knuckle - and the arm(where the tie rod is connected) shouldn't be bent. A quick test....
Place your finger in between the steering arm and the knuckle on both sides.........if you have a hard time getting your finger in one of the sides........its bent.........just get a new steering knuckle and call it a day.
Does the vehicle suck at turning both ways? If so, both can be bent........have someone check it out if you don't know what you're looking at.

Also - the steering gearbox could be fucked.........
I'm not too familiar with gearboxes.....but the input shaft is connected to another metal thing(forget what its called), and it translates the turning movement(steering wheel) into a lateral(side-to-side) movement............
Thus it moves the tie rods left and right - maybe something inside is messed up and the tie rods don't get pushed out as far as they should..............
Tie rods are connected to the steering arm - and the steering arm is part of the steering knuckle............controls turning radius.......probably already said that -
Also check out your power steering..........the system might have air in it or something.....most people don't flush they're power steering, but its a must - if you check yours, guarantee it has black stuff in it.
And that black stuff goes into the gear box - not good........so, you might have a buildup somewhere..........
