Stay D16 Y8 or Go LS?
I have a 2000 Civic EX. I just want a little more pep outta this motor. I am thinking about going the LS Route, since it is fairly inexpensive. I am no going turbo or nothing extreme like that. Would it be worth the time and money to swap out the D16 Y8 and going with either an Si or LS motor, or just stay D16? Turboing and stuff are out of the question. Just want a little more outta the car if possible. GS-R and ITR are just out of the question. Any input would be great.
What do you have done to your D16Y8?
If its stock, perhaps the basic bolt-ons and a mild cam may be all you need. This way it would have more power than a stock LS, but it would be down on the LS' torque. If I were you and went this route, a little 50 shot of nitrous every now and then fulfill your needs.
When it comes to deciding between the 2 B-series choices, it depends on what you want out of your car. If you want it to have better around town acceleration than go with the LS. If you're more into high RPM, give-it-all-you-got driving than go with the B16.
So my vote is stick with the D if its stock and then give it a lil life. If you've already done the mods to it and you're bored with it pick a B to suit your needs.

if you want a swap its better to go the si route so you have v-tec. the ls motor would give you more power but not enough to justify the money and time spent to achieve the slightly better numbers. the only big gain from the ls motor would be torque. if you want more horsepower and good numbers at the track you'll need dohc vtec power.
Thanks for the input friends. I have slight bolt-ons. DC Headers, Injen CAI, Nonresonated Type R Muffler. That's about it. I started some research and am actually more interested in something along the lines of the Greddy Turbo Kit. It's relitively inexpensive, and I feel that the output is along the lines of what I am looking for. What's your take on that?

The B16 is the best motor of the three you have as an option, it will be the most expensive too. So it depends on what you want to spend. If you don't have the money now, I would say go LS and later on your options will be even greater. Definitely B16 if you do have the money, and the options for the B16 does not stop here, neither does the market for products.
Boost! Now your talking. You said it was out of the question. From what I remember about the GReddy turbo kits for the D-Series, there are 2 different sized turbos. I think the bigger turbo is the one from the Z6. Either way I would go with that kit. I don't think they come with intercoolers either, which I think is a waste.
The turbo I would choose is the Edelbrock bolt-on Turbo kit. It comes with the GT28 ball-bearing turbo, intake manifold, extra injectors, piggy-back computer, intercooler, boost gauge, etc. This kit lays down 175 whp. I'm not tryin to sell you this kit, I just know the details because I came very close to buying this kit with a mini-me conversion before I made the mistake of going K20.
