People who changed their clutch. DIY
in about few week iam plan to change the clutch. i saw my friend doing it, when he is taking off clutch the plate were spinning (when he is unbolting). so how to stop spinning?? is there a kit for that? or someone has to hold it.
Honda offers a tool that screws into one of the tranny mounting bolt holes that will keep the flywheel from moving. I can't tell you how much it costs because I just had a buddy stick a screwdriver between the slots while I tightened everything up.

I can't count the number of B-series clutches I've changed and I've never needed help from anyone doing it. Plus I'm a really lanky guy.

damn you must be good. Changing clutch is easy...its when you put back the tranny on...that sucker is heavey and you need to align it perfectly....I needed a extra hand.

It can break loose in any direction. It depends on how much constant force you put into tightening or loosening the bolts.
If you've got an impact wrench, use it to remove the bolts. That way you don't have to worry about the engine moving while loosening the bolts.
If you don't have an impact, take a 1/2" drive ratchet and 19mm deepwell socket. Set it to tighten (normal thread), and slap it on the crankshaft pulley bolt. Rotate the entire assembly until it hits the frame rail. When you go to loosen the flywheel bolts, it'll automatically brace the ratchet against the frame rail.
Do the opposite when you torque the bolts down. Check the crankshaft pulley bolt tightness when you're done.

oh ok thanks for info
just one last question, is it bad when flywheel turning to clockwise?? cause when you do head work it has to be turn to counterclorkwise. thanks

why are you guys making it so hard... just put a screwdriver in between the teeths of the flywheel and the webing on the block. have someone hold it there and the other guy take out the bolts. simple as that. now go on and put knowledge to work. where you've failed, you know you're only closer to succeeding.
Hmmm...
Based on the responses I'm reading I don't suppose anyone else has discovered what a transmission jack is. You don't need a friend to remove/install the tranny, you need a tranny jack.

Understood, but most places have some kind of a tool rental store that won't charge more than about about ten bucks a day for one. It's better to spend ten bucks and securely remove the transmission than it is to risk dropping it on someone.

yea if you have access to one by all means. I personally prolly wouldn't have been able to do it by myself, the trannys heavy and awkard. A friend of mine throws it on his chest, and lfts it up and on, but hes a small little bastard, i don't have any room to move around like that under my car.
