Default 93 Civic Si

Hey guys how you doing I'm new to the forum just got alot of questions first of I'm ready to buy a 93 Honda Civic Si and the owner wants $1800 know these are the problems of the car the sunroof is cracked, know how hard is it to put a new one? Next the interior parts were the climate control is its all broken so I gotta replace that to is that hard to change? The body on the car is like a flat white its ok, Im not worried about that. When the sunroof opens it struggles to open it looks like it just needs like some WD-40 but Im not sure or could it be the motor of the sunroof? Is this car worth the money? Sorry for the long story but any anwsers would be great and thanks in advance.

post up some pics. 1800 for a 93 civic si? those are the rarest of the hatches. Personally I would get it if the body is in fair condition. I used to own one and although its a single cam (d16z6) I loved that car. It had some pep for a single cam thats for sure. Its the top model of the hatches and although people say its heavy (they are right)...still I would gladly pay 1800 for it. post up some pics tho.

But even with the problems that need to be fixed, I forgot to mention other little minor problems like it needs the mouldings for the door and front window, the interior is ok just need to be cleaned. Thanks

i got a 92 with 256k miles on it for 2900.....so 1800 isnt that bad because the stuff you need is very easy to come by, and not expensive either....good DIY project IMO

Sunroof is held in by 4 screws, Allen head. If you can pop the sunroof up, you can get the screws out and put a new one on. Just be careful with the shims when you put your new one on, so it gets on even. Good sunroof glass is easy to come by if you know where to look. Find someone who is parting a coupe or si or just racing it. You can score one for pretty cheap.

Opening probs could be any number of things. Possibly the lifting lever arms, which are in the frame. Could possibly be the seal around the glass, or the motor, or a combination of any of those. My 92 Si has the same prob. On mine, it's the glass seal. If you need to remove the frame, it just bolts to the roof, but you'll need to pull your headliner first. Not too difficult, but the plastic clips on everything are a bitch.

Not quite sure what interior part you're talking about. If you're speaking of the grey bezel around everything, it's a bitch. Dashboard has to come out, get scunned out, then it unscrews from inside. If it's just the climate control, not so bad... just two screws up through the bottom.... console comes out, then radio, then climate.... not hard.

I gave 1,800 for my 92 Si, with less interior issues, but about 100,000 more miles. Haven't regretted the money at all. If the title is clean, and it runs good, I say ****** it up.

Agreed, that sound slike a pretty good deal. Part of the sunroof operation might be because it it cracked and not laying like it should. Like qat727 said, most of those things are minor and parts can be found very cheap if you do some smart searching. Good luck.

I bought a 93 si for 1800 also and the sunroof was cracked. it sat under a tree for about a yr. IMO opinion i would get the car if everything else is ok. about the sunroof my sunroof is replaced now but it still sputters when it opens if im parked. if im rolling it rolls ok. i would replace it cause mine started to spyder off. you can find them cheap , but if you go through honda its going to be expensive.

I don't doubt this a bit. I wrote it while at work, and it's been over 6 months since I've had my sunroof off. I do believe though that the Allen screws are the same size as the Allen wrench that you can close the sunroof with, you know, that little wrench thing you use in emergencies. Sorry for any misinformation. I do the best I can with what I have. Corrections always welcome.

hey buds congrats on the car. About the sunroof, it prolly only needs sme wd40, mine had the same problem, it would kinda hang or sputer to go away and would only need a little help right? well i hosed the track with wd40 and sure enough it worked fine ever since. good buy for 1800. i paid 3k for mine. but mine only had a busted speedo. either way welcome to the forum.
