l5 is just the lower model whereas l7 is the better solobaric.

L5 if your just looking for some good beats and L7 if your looking for serious bump. L7 can handle more watts (usually 25%-50% more)

IE: kicker l5 - capable of 750 rms
kicker l7 - capable of 1000 rms
(15" specs^)

l7 stronger cast basket, bigger voice coil, larger magnet= higher power handling.
Im running 2 l5 10"s in my car off of a quart RAA1000 (1000w rms)
depends how much power u want to run.

You should look into another type of sub. Unless you're mainly in for SPL.

I am a Kicker rep, besides the obvious upgrades, like the voice coil and such, a 10in L5 is 90% of a 10% L7, the 10in Comp VR is 90% of an 10in L5. All Kicker subs are this way from the Comp on up.
