I just got quoted 2500 for:
- JDM conversion install (no parts inlcuded)
- Full Car paint (300 more for color change)
- Body work (side molding remove, embelms, and dents)

bascially i get all the parts, and for 2500 the shop does all the work.

so its that a good price?

 

2k is a good price for a complete paint job with body work. Id say 2500 for a complete color change plus the JDM front end installation isnt too bad.

 

that price sounds just right. labor is like 30-40 bucks an hr.
good paint alone is like 500 bucks.
I know this, because my dad has been doing paint and body work for the past 30 years hah.

heh... so thats a good price? i figured 500 paint rite. the body works takes what 2 days, paint one day. plus install parts one day. 3 days of work for 2000 seemed kinda high.

you get what you pay for when it comes to painting cars , 2500 is a pretty good price for install and complete paint . ive seen a lot of paint jobs and people brag about ..."oh i only paid $1000" etc . well it looked like a $1000 paint job . runs , light spots , over spray . i always tell people not to be cheap when it comes to painting a car .

have you ever painted a car ? its a lot of work . id expect your car to be gone around 2 weeks .

 

man i've had 2grand burning a hole in my wallet for ages..

haven't found anywhere to paint my car WELL for that much money
they always want closer to 3grand...

I just want the exterior, doorjams, and some shaves..

 

^^ well put.. i agree with Danger for the most part.. but more importantly KNOW your painter and SEE his work.. pay attention to what kinda people work there and how "together" the shop looks. what kinda reputation they have etc... *IMO* paint is one of the most important qualities of the car. be sure of who paints your car cuz you could just end up paying for work you may be unhappy with and will end up costing you more in the long run to get the paint fixed..

 

the shops im lookin at seem pretty reputable. one shop they do nothin but imports, paticulary honda.
also has any one heard of GSpot automotive? they guy said he did paint jobs that have been on mags like super street.
