anyone use the EBC greenstuff pads??
at the time i cant shell out 140 bucks for a race only pad so i'm looking for a nice alternative that i can run on the street and would handle a couple track events
the greenstuffs seem pretty good and grassroots motosports speaks highly of them
anyone use these or shed some light on a better choice for street/light track duty
the car is a 93 civic hb w/gs-r brake upgrade , stainless lines and 4 wheel discs

Where's MaddMatt when you need him... If I recall correctly, he set the EBC pads he tried on fire... really not what you want out of a track pad... Perhaps he'll see this and respond with the story, my memory isn't all that good sometimes.

I ran a set of EBC greens once. Once. A street pad that is being marketed at the wrong sector. They need a disclaimer: "Do not, ever, under any circumstances, expect these pads to last 3 laps in a track environment". They were to the backing plate and ash at the end of one half hour session.
They would make a good autocross pad though...

They don't even make a good autocross pad. Not really, anyways. Both CivicSiRacer and I glazed the EBC Greens to death numerous times before chucking them in the trash. Hawk HP+ make a much MUCH better autocross pad, but won't hold up on track. I haven't used the Carbotech pads myself, but from the various trustworthy sources, those are about as close to a dual-purpose street/track pad.

Greenstuff is a nice street pad and a fair autocross pad. Low dust, low noise, moderately aggressive, easy to modulate, rotor friendly. Not a high temp pad though.

I will vouch for WRXRacer - the older compounds were ok - mine glazed over within a couple of months. I don't know about EBC's new compounds though.

Yea,
I have the green stuff and they suck. I went driving on some roads with a Miata club in Pennsylvania with some moderate braking and when we made a pitstop there was brake dust everywhere...huge chunks of the brake pad got all over my wheels and the side of my car.
I need to replace them immediately if I want to go to FATT.

I'm running EBC Red pads...
work very well, don't exhibit any fade
but they squeal like a pig with street use. This is even with anti-squeal crap on them.
i gotta find a pad that'll work with my wilwoods

what about Hawk HPs?? i heard they are awsome for street/race.
Panther Plus for agressive street/track...
If you can't afford the P+, then consider the Axxis Ultimate...good for street, auto-x, and light track use...fade-free up to 1000F.

If you like this track driving thing, you WILL come to the conclusion that you must have a dedicated pad for the track and a dedicated pad for the street. You will come to this conclusion, it's just a matter of time, so just go ahead and go there.
EBC: Not impressive. I used their Redstuff at VIR once. Literally, once. They lasted a whopping 60 miles (3ish sessions, one of which was slow orientation laps) until they started throwing sparks from the backing plate. And VIR is not hard on brakes. 2 weekends ago I use $20 Advance Wearever pads on the same car with the same caliper and rotors and the Advance pads barely wore at all (krshultz, r2x, and phat-S all saw these pads). Even after ~200 track miles if that tells you how crappy the EBCs are.
I've never heard anything positive about Greenstuff. I'm not sure if EBC gave GRM a wheelbarrow full of money to give them a positive review on their E30 M3 or what. The Greenstuff "V4" designation tells me they might have reformulated it, I don't know. What I do know is Panther +, Porterfield R4, or Hawk Blue are still the best choices for track. I also know it doesn't matter how many times EBC reformulates their stuff, it's going to take Carbotech, Porterfield and Hawk all going out of business before I try them again. Even then, I'll probably just go get $20 Wearevers.

Everytime someone posts something about EBC, I just wait with glee for Matt's account of his first-hand experience with them... And the memory I have of him dropping the burnt, empty EBC backing plates on the gravel at VIR last year...
Classic.

I really really like my porterfield r4s'. Very streetable with a little more bite then stock and only mild squaling when they are cold. I mean like first thing in the morn cold. Seem to dust a lot IMO, but it's friendly dust that easily hoses off. besides the rota's look more like spoons with a little brake dust on them. Held up fine at VIR, although as a complete nub, I'm sure they never really got worked the way most of these guys would have worked them.
