Default Lack of torque

I've been getting a little bummed lately about the lack of torque in our cars .. plus I'm driving 30 highway miles a day so I never get to use the car what it was intended for. I'm trying to decide between getting a daily beater and keeping the R in the garage, selling the R and buying a wrx, or just leaving well enough alone.

What would you guys do in my position?

Buy a turbo car (WRX, new EVO) or V8 American car.

My 89 GXL RX-7 has no torque at all in the lower rpms and I luv it. If your lacking in one area make up for it in another like top end. I rev my baby to 8500 when im racing and its a rush. Just enjoy your gas mileage in the mean time.

U dont have to sell lyour car. Thiers plenty of torque cars in the paper for less than 2 grand.

Get a beater or a different car altogether. IMNSHO, ITRs shouldn't be driven to work every day. I did it for a while and I really started disliking the car. Now I have a beater and drie the R for fun, I love my car again.

If you're thought hung up on torque buy a WS6 and be done with it.

I think you'd be better off getting a beater though, and keeping the R.

If you wanted torque you shouldn't have bought a Acura. However, I think my friends R pulls just fine on daily driving. How much torque do you need for daily driving?

Hmm.. I drove mine to work everyday, groceries, etc-etc.. maybe you're right.. the car is not for work.. I feel tired sometimes..(especially when you're not in the mood of spirited driving)
hm.. wondering if I can deliver newspaper using this car...

It is the first time I hear someone who thinks selling his R for lack of torque.......
which is not my opinion, the R has its good torque but, you cannot compare it with a V8. Whoever buys a Vtec powered car should know its pros and cons, and I'm very happy with my beast. Like sgt said, I can pass vehicles in 5th gear, and if someone mess with me there is the 3th gear comming in....

I think we all know that our cars need to be revved... but there's only so much revving you can take on 50 miles-per-day commute (in my case). Sure, it "feels" like there's torque by down-shifting, but we all know the truth. I mean, drive in a V6 truck or V6/8 car for a day or two... it's just easier to get up to the speed without trying... granted not much fun on the curves.

I love the car to commute 75% of the time, but 25% of the times I feel that I'm just wasting the car by eating up the mileage on boring commutes. I'm picking up a beater for commuting in the next few months...

Unfortunately, I share your dilemma. I came from a 98 Driver's Edition VR6 GTI to this R. I couldn't stand the lack of torque at FIRST.....after a while, I realized that as much as I loved the GTI's (still do), I feel I would give up too many other perks of having an R. I use mine to daily drive (i'm an old man), and just love it now. I have contemplated back and forth to going American V8 (NOT), or back to VW GTI's, but it won't happen. The R is a monster if truly admired and appreciated. I am just giving you my honest opinion because I was a long time VW freak. But, I will not risk giving up this R for torque because I just smoked a VR6 today. That was weird.....I was on the other side just a few months ago Best of wishes man!!! Stay with the R.

the first time i got in my r, i was actually suprised how quick it was out of vtec, i had figured it would run like a 84 civic until 6000rpms, but it pulls just fine for daily driving. for me that is...

Think a Scooby does about 17-21 MPG, I travel about 60 miles a day, this stopped me getting a one as it'll be like tying a anchor round your neck.

I actually had the opposite impression of the itr when i first got it. Everyone acted like it was sooooo fast..... I was like wtf? I was disappointed to have to start at 2500 rpms to get going in 1st gear. And as a matter of fact, my 91 si had more pull off the line for the same rpms..... until vtec of course.

I have since remedied those shortcomings with mods, however. Now my 91 si feels slow.....

My R has been driven daily since day one(little over than a year now) and it is still an intoxicating car to drive...
