90 Acura integra wont start.....where to start?
Just like the topic says my integra wont start. It does turn over but back fires....i recently put a new timing belt on.....pulled head and had it machined and installed a new head gasket.....also at the same time i did a valve adjustment.....the car has ran fine with no probelms for about 2 months now....and then all the sudden lost power and sputted to the side of the road. I checked the dizzy and there is voltage out of plug wires. What tips does any have that can help me on my way. thanks@!
check for fuel. If you have spark at the wires and your car was running before, I would take a hard look at the fuel system. Check your pump make sure its energizing, fpr isn't leaking gas.
i just changed the fuel filter ...just because i had one laying around.....so u think i should check voltage at fuel pump terminals? what about checking fuel pressure.....dont i need a special tool for that? also what is FPR?

yea check for voltage at the pump, or you can have someone turn the key to acc. while you sit with the gas door open and cap off and you can hear the pump cycle.
Yea you need a special tool to check the fuel pressure, similar to a compression tester, but obviously for fuel

You said you had voltage at the spark plug wires...did you test with a meter, or did you watch it spark against the block??? My freinds dizzy crapped out on him, and it would still jump a spark, but it wasn't nearly as bright as normal. The voltage should be somewhere way up in thousands of volts I believe, since the coil steps up the voltage. I am not sure exactly how much voltage though, I know it shocks the **** out of you if you get hit with it! Anyway, see if one of your freinds will let you borrow their dizzy for like ten minutes and try it, that's how I found my friend's problem. I just drove up to his car on the side of the road and swapped dizzys real quick!
Also, my ignition switch did the same thing. Out of nowhere I was driving, and nothing, the car stared coasting, my guages all went out, the engine quit firing, I put my foot on the clutch, and the engine stopped. It was like I turned the key off. If I jiggles the key just right it would fire up and I could drive it. But after a few times of doing that, it didn't work anymore. So I pulled the ignition switch, and sure enough, the solder on one of the back contacts came loose. I resoldered it instead of buying a new switch, and it has worked ever since...
good luck...

nothing new....i did check voltage with a multimeter but that doesnt mean anything if u say the voltage is up in the thousands because my meter wont go that high. I am thinking that is fuel related but i havn't checked yet.
if i didnt wouldn't it have shown signs before now? Or is that some thing that can happen over a period of time.....i set both cams TDC and set white mark on Main pully at mark on block cover. So i am sure timing is on.....

i had almost this same problem with my 91, i was leaving a friends house and was 1st going over a speed bump and as i went over and started accel little morei lost everything and allt he car did spit and sputter there was nothing but that turns out when i pulled my dizzy cap off the small *** bolt that keps the rotor to the shaft had fallen out so i went and got a new cap and rotor and since then no problems

it is rare but it could happen. check your timing cause if it turns on your getting fuel and spark.
