looks like it's well maintained. Have you asked him what kind of maintanance he's performed and any documents on it?? I don't know what the blue book value is but i bought my '02 two years ago for $6000 with 1k miles on it.
3k seems a little low, but it does look like it's been dropped on both sides. So maybe there's more than meets the eye with this bike.
I'd stay away from it, and buy my 03 F4i for 6000

I think you should pm me the number if you don't get it so I can check it out. There's always room in the stable for one more....
Also, it appears to have been repainted once already. That red looks more of a burgandy which wasn't stock on the f4i.

There's lots of questions you could ask.
For one, has it ever been layed down, crashed, repaired?
How's the maintenence?
How many owners?
I sold my 01F4i for 3600$.. w/7k on it. I layed it down once though.

thats a good price for a bike that looks really used. If it dosent bother you to much that it has been down, then I say go for it. The high mount looks sick, I like it.
If you get it go to http://www.tapeworks.com and get a green kit that goes around the winks. Makes the bike look so much better IMO.

jot the VIN# down and run a check on it. I was looking at a 04 cbr 1000RR and i wrote the vin down, had a cop buddy run the numbers and it came back stolen. Also, ask him specificaly about how often he changed the oil and what kind of oil he used. Ask him about the air filter and how ofter he cleaned/changed it. Smell the oil. I know that sounds stupid, but take the oil cap off an smell in thier, smell the cap, look at the color of the oil. If it smells burnt (which will smell like.....***) and if the oil is exceptoinaly dark, i would probably stay away from it. from the outside it does not look that bad. Many bikes that age have been layed down and repainted anyway...i would not let that scare you away though. Just cause it has been layed down does not mean that it has problems...however when you ride it and let go of the handles and the bike starts to buck like a horse......punch him in the mouth.
