Default Is it a bad idea to cut some of the shift linkage off?

Ever since i put in a new exhaust the bottom of the linkage hits the top if the piping. Im gonna be putting in a short shifter soon and it'll probly sit lower than oem. Is it ok to cut some of the linkage off(the part thats hitting). If i lower the exhaust anymore its gonna scrape everything.

are you talking about grinding out a section of your linkage? just over top of where it would hit the exaust? it doesn't seem like it would hurt if it was only like a 1/4 of the way through the linkage, but it sure wouldnt be pretty... but you gotta do what you gotta do & ****

Same thing was happening to me. It was really hard to shift to 5th and reverse, but 1-4 were ok. The part that was hitting was way at the back of the linkage, but i think its just a weight so you can shift smoother. I just cut mine off like 10 mins ago, i dont think itll mess anything up.
