Default "One mans trash....

is another mans treasure." I stumbled across these in a junkyard when I was looking for an HF Manifold (still am)...not bad for only $5 each! I just gotta spend time cleaning them before use

The dark spots are from mud that is still wet from the junkyard...hoping it'll come out nicely

Hopefully most of it will come out...I just need to not be lazy and get to it.

I suggest power washing them, or get a couple buddies together and rent a steam cleaner. Then you can all do your entire car's carpet.

I have a set and I am carefull with them and my drivers side logo is not as 'crisp' as those. I would take them to a professional cleaner or at least wait for the mud to dry, then try to knock off as much of it as I could. Then rent a good carpet cleaner, or better yet bring them to a carpet cleaner. I just had a service clean some carpets in one of my rentals and they were AMAZING!

Good luck!

Nice find man. No matter what condition those are in they are getting rarer and rarer to find anywhere. Take some time and clean them up. But make sure you do it gentily. First just let them soak in a tub to break down the dirt and let the water soak in. Then lightly with a soft brush using some liquid Tide and as hot water as you can carefully brush that into the mats and let the Tide to its work. Then let it soak again in more Tide and hot water for a while. When that is done take them out and rince them off. If need be repeat the steps.

I wouldn't worry about being gentle with them... floor mats are pretty tough. I used to work for a limousine business... imagine the floor mats for one of those suckers, HUGE! Talk about a pain in the *** to clean... They got dirty as hell, too... with all kinds of nasty stuff.

Anyway, if you can find a car wash with clips on the wall, you can hang 'em up and power-wash the **** out of them. (caution: pressure washers can create VERY powerful streams. Don't get the nozzle right up on them, or you'll obliterate them. They're tough but not THAT tough. Keep back about a foot, maybe.) Try to position the sprayer above the mats, pointed towards the ground somewhat. Always wash from high to low... push the dirty water out the bottom. (Bring a rain coat, dude) Steam cleaners and carpet cleaners (extractors) are kind of a waist of time with mats that are that dirty. Its gonna take lots of water and soap (a brush might help too)... but mostly water to "flush" them clean. The soap and brush will loosen the dirt; the water will expell the dirt.

good luck

one more thing... Allow a couple of days(at least) to dry them. Put them in the sun if you can. This will help get rid of (and prevent) any foul odors.

I was planning on using my mom's (love being 19 and at home) carpet cleaner with its hand held adapter to see what it would do.

Aren't the letters kind of fragile? I'm thinking that if I power wash or "beat it" they will be more likely to fall off? Good ideas tho, thanks!

This was my first time to a junkyard....it was awesome! They had over 100 honda's and acura's and a large portion were hatchs.

Yes, the letters are little pieces of cut out material glued onto the floormat. If they come off, no big deal, glue them back on. Don't ask how I know this! hint......pressure washer.
