mad mileage on b16 safe to have a p&p head?
whats up guys I'm not new here by anymeans been lurking for years
(hehe) anyways I've been really thingking of getting my head p&p w/ ofcourse aftermarket pieces. My question was, is it safe to have a p&p head on a bottom end with a whole lot of mileage? (150mi for ex.) I know that I'm going to be putting on arp head bolts and thats about it, would my bottom end survive? Thanks in advance

depends on tuning and how you drive it....if your going to the trouble of doing the headwork...have new piston rings and new bearings installed in the bottom end...wouldnt cost to much....
aiight cool, good lookin out.. Well it is my daily driver and I cant afford to blow this engine I do a whole lot of driving, sometimes 120mi one way so I definetly need it to be very realiable besides being a really strong healty motor, is there any other way for it to be realiable aside from resorting to changing bearings and pistons rings? I will be doing the Tech43 stroker kit sometime in the future but thats not for a long as time..
FYI i wouldnt bother with that stroker kit since reliablity is a concern, and you like to stack on the miles. You would be better off buying an old ls block somewhere for $75 bucks, and then the cost outta be pretty much the same from there on out, and you will have the block that the bigger cranks were made for!
(you will burn alot less oil)
Also, aslong as your A:F remains safe (might need to add some fuel) Then there shouldnt be any harm done to the bottem end regardless of miles. THe reccomendation of freshening up the block is just so that you can make the most out of your port job, because you will be flowing more air (maybe) and you will want a fresh bottem end to get the most potential.

Hmmmmm that sounds like some valid points. But I really wanted to stroke the motor if i was gonna rebuilt it and i hear a whole lotta positive things as far as power potential with Tech43 stroker kit using the 89mm ls crank & rods I never really heard anything about reliabilty that came out from it, which I'm really concern of since this is my daily driver... Is there anyone out there with this motor (Tech43) right now that can vouch that this is a good motor for me as far as power and reliabity??? I mean I know its more to it than that as far as a good tuner and all. all I want to know in general if this will last me a long *** time say like over 100k... Thanks in advance..
