Stretching JDM ITR rear seat bench skin on EK bench foam???
Hey guys looking for some useful information here on this if anyone can help me. Im not a newbie so yes I did search but didnt find the info I was looking for.
I am putting a set of JDM ITR rear seats into my hatch. I have already finished the Upper Seat Backs by swaping the EK frames onto the ITR seats so that it bolts up perfectly fully functional and doesnt ruin the integrity or the car.
My next step is putting the Lower Seat Bench in. I have seen many people just kind of place the ITR seat in and have huge gaps on each side and between the bench and the backs. I have also read that some people have kind of fixed this by putting foam or towels underneath the bench to raise it up to eliminate the gap between the bench and the seat backs. Then put black carpet stuffed in the gaps on the side.
Although those may work and get you by kinda thing I would really like to re-wrap my EK bench foam with the Skin of the JDM ITR. I have heard of a couple people doing it and streching it over. But I was wondering how hard it is to do, if there is anything you have to cut out of the foam so it doesnt over stretch the skin and tear it or make it look bunchy. Just basically if anyone has done it how exactly you went about doing it.
thanks so much guys,
Jon

You can do it.
You have to cut up your EK foam cause it is a solid piece where as the Integras has 2 seperate pieces of foam. You cant stretch it over your stock ek foam piece it is way to large (the foam not the cloth). Another option would be to buy a 4 door type-r's bench cause it isnt gappy in a EK. There was a right up but it wasnt for an EK I think it was for a EG hatch.

Someone also had a thread going about using ITR Sedan bottoms and they will not leave any gaps....but I guess that doesn't do you any good since you have coupe bottoms right now
So would buying a regular USDM Integra rear bench and then re-wrapping those with his ITR covers work?
This way there no need to try and source a JDM ITR sedan rear bench.
BTW, pulling off the cloth "nails" is a complete b!tch as is re-installing them. On the middle sections of the seat, there are loop holes on the underside of the cloth to be "nailed" into bars in the foam. If you don't re-holster these, the creases in the cloth will pull up from people sitting on the seat.
I had a type r rear seat (bench and backs) and a GSR seat (bench and back). The type R had been used alot and the foam was crushed, whereas the GSR was brand spanking new. I swapped the skins from the ITR to the GSR and vice versa.
Instead of using the "nails", I just used black zip-ties. I got all the loop-holes started, and then used a zip-tie tool to tighten them down and cut the excess. On the ITR seats, I used the zip-ties only on the crease sections, and on the GSR, I used zip ties all around. It took me about 20% of the time to use zip-ties on the GSR seat I re-upholstered. I spent close to 4 hours taking off the covers and re-doing the ITR seat. I spent less than an hour re-upholstering the GSR seat (and it looks like factory with the exception of the crushed foam).
Some advice.

I feel for you man. I just finished re-wrapping my 96 GSR's rear cloth seats with a 98 leather cover and it took me forever to get all those metal "clips" off. Luckily the zip ties were much faster for the re-install.
Good luck.
Good luck.
yeah the little metal rings are a pain I just used a set of wire cutters to clip em off then slide em out. I think I make have to shave the top edges on the sides of the EK foam to make them angle more so the skin will stretch right
Gonna start on em tonight so I guess I will find out then
May do a write up on it if they come out good.
