Mark has a hard time making friends, so he has to kiss a LOT of ***...

Speaking of meat, Mark, you going to be at the Runoffs next weekend for some of that RoadHunter's Cafe fried German bologna? Last event of the year!

Back on topic, anyone interested in my car? I know the market is rather saturated right now, thus the price is negotiable.

Sam

How many other H5 cars were in the field typically when this car won its H5 championship? Anyone can buy this car in the west coast and win H5 haha.

Good price I think...

You make a very good point here in that I was the only H5 car that was racing when I won the H5 championship last year. Did that keep me from mixing it up w/ some of the slower H4 cars and spec miatas? No, not at all. I had my share of battles w/ cars not in my class, and while I probably didn't put the car in some places that I may have if I'd been in a tight battle in my own class, I'd like to think that that speaks more to me as a driver versus what the car can or can't do. This is also why I'm selling this car and making the move up to H4/ITA in a CRX.

This car is very competitive in ITC, and is competitive in H5 regionally. I'll make no bones about it being outclassed in H5 when I go and race w/ ECHC and have to battle w/ the '85-'87 CRX & Civic Si's that have 10 more HP than me as well as 200 less pounds. Hopefully this won't deter someone from buying the car, as it is a great car to drive, very easy on consumables, and the perfect car for a "budget" racer.

Regards,

Sam

Its not really an H5 car. Its an H6 car.
Put a 5 speed in it and its an H5 car, kind of.

legally couldnt someone swap a DX motor into and remain H5, it would illegal for Scca at that piont, but Chassis swaps are legal for HC.

I can't believe that was a year ago already.

It's a pretty nice car. It's got quite a bit of the parts these cars need to be really quick. I still believe that these '88-'91 STD HB's are the car to have in ITC.

As for the engine swapping, it would be perfectly legal in HC to turn it into a DX and run in H5. Or swap in an Si engine and have some fun in H4. In the SCCA though, that's a big no-no.

I have the sneaking suspicion that if I asked a price, it'd make me a very very unhappy camper because I'd want to buy it very badly.

Good luck with the sale!

You really wouldn't even need a full engine swap to make it DX spec. All you'd need is the cam, ECU, and 5 speed tranny. Cam and ECU can be had for less than $20. Tranny is about $150, but they can be hard to find since its the same unit thats in the Sis.
Everything else is identical between the Standard and the DX.

If SCCA puts the DX in ITB next year, I will very likely do this. I know it will be technically illegal, but I'd like to try it and will be open and honest about it.
Mostly I just want to be able to manage one tire size (the 5 speed allows that) and run in the Atlanta Pro IT series (No ITC there). Also, I have alot of friends in ITB these days, and I'd like to kick their asses for them (where you at Floyd???).
And yes, I want to see if I can do me some "Volvo Hunting" as Karl likes to describe ITB.

We'll see. I think there is a very good chance the 88-91 Civic DX and Base CRX will be in ITB by the end of this year. If that happens, alot of you guys are going to be wishing you'd bought Sam's car for $5000, because I'll bet the price will go up .

You thought you were gonna slip that in and me not see it, didn't you bee-aach?

I say we go ahead and make that bet - you make the move to ITB and the winner of the "Giles and Floyd Show" gets a 12 pack of Sammies from the loser each weekend.

By the time your car gets moved to ITB all my rust and cobwebs will have been removed, revealing the highly polished and well oiled machine. And my car will be finished too.

-Floyd, who's ego survived his Integra, and is looking foward to being back in a competitive car.

oh just buy it.

The parts in the car and the labor to build one just like it will total to twice what he's asking. Just buy it and come race.
