Hi guys, my very expensive Exedy Hyper single clutch has given up the ghost in the matter of 9k miles (not even launched, dragged etc) only used for daily driving. Exedy UK claims its about right for that type of mileage and blame it down to wear and tear. I'm extremely pissed off and I need to start again with a clutch/flywheel combo..
What do you recommend for a S/C B18 with 330WHP and 200 odd lbs/ft of torque that WILL last for daily driving? i.e. London traffic (Mase can vouch
)
Any recommendations on Material, flywheel and make??? Ben from import is my dealer and he does ACT and CM...
Thanks in advance.
Having a really shitty day as things on my ride just goes wrong

ACT XTSS? Been close to 20k miles+ on my clutch and still going strong.
Lots of racing and drags. (b18c1-t3t4) etc..
Also, I notice I usually drive with my feet on the clutch pedal ALOT! Is this a bad thing? Barely resting my feet on it. >_< Wells, I know I just need to replace my Throwout Bearing, not sure why its tad whistling tho.

If your clutch didn't last 500 miles it's because you installed it wrong or you just drive like a meatbag. Don't knock a clutch for user error.

It wasnt installed wrong unless you want to knock on Cortney Green's skills and its pretty hard to drive like a meatbag when 400 of those 500 miles are straight highway, and the other 100 were very easy driving.
But still doesnt change the fact that the clutch when out in 500 miles of having maybe 200 lb/tq at the wheels and being able to hold 487. Then again I have mainly only heard bad things about using ACT Max Extreme plate.

i had my act xtss 4 puck for like 2 1/2 year with probably 90% city driving stop and go traffic. A lot of drag racing and launching. Had about 30k or more on the clutch then recently made over 600hp on the dyno and a few weeks after that it starts to slip. If i had to get another clutch it would be ACT, got my money worth it. BTW i dont think it drive smooth like a exedy but it'll hold the power.
im not even exactly sure which one i got. all i know is i got the 4 puck xtreme pressure plate. not sure if thats the maxxtreme or not. but i believe the one im using is rated at 420lbs of torque or so. The pedal is hella stiff and it chatters like crazy but i like it. Rather have a rough clutch then a soft clutch that doesnt hold up.
if you want longevity and good holding power then you want an organic street disc and a high clamping pressure plate. organic discs are for daily driving. any other material is made to handle lots of abuse but not for a lot of miles.

I would really like to see it and hear a little more about how and what happened. Email me more info or photos or something. The design is solid, the materials are good, and the testing is pretty comprehensive. There has to be some excuse for it whether it's our fault or yours, it is definitely not normal.

mines hold up very good. my vote goes to ACT over the rest of the other clutch.
