Default K20A3 or K24A1 for crx

i cant go with another SOHC i must have a DOHC *I got to feel the power*. They say i need a hasport kit for the conversion for either but i was wondering what kind of ecu would i need with them and what kind of tranny. I aint for sure what to do as of right now. This is a 91 crx hf so there has to be quite a bit of conversion

Dont know.

I think i would go K20 from Type R, its 200hp and a lot "tighter".

The K24 has 190hp, but nice torque. But it dont feel as tight. If you know what i am saying.

Just go for K20. If you have the cash. But think about the B- series another time. Even because the K20 requires expert craftmanship ( ) to pull it thru. Need little hard modifying and knowhow. The hasport kit isint enough.

well if u think about it...the cost of both k-series swap is about the same...you'll need pretty much the same stuff...but the 6speed tranny is on the k20....but hey i rather have more torque than power...so i would go with the k24 and bore that bad boy to a k27....man wat a torque beast that will be..

LOL come on people if you want a "torque beast" then buy a V8

I would go with the K20A. Better aftermarket too.

k24a1...by far. No replacement for displacement. And when you are ready to upgrade you can throw a k20a2/24a2/z1/z3 head on it. O and if your planning on going K, Kpro/aem is highly recommended.

Yea, but why spend all the money on a CTR motor when you can get a K20a (DC5R motor) w/ 220hp. We are in the states and it's pretty tough to come across a K20a let alone a CTR motor(with less power anyway). We're better off getting the RSX-s motor than a CTR motor.

i totally think you should go with the k24 and the type s heads ...im doing that to my crx as i type...i had the k20a2 in my ek and it was fast so i trying it in the rex...but everyone is right on each block the k24 would be better for torgue...and the k20 for speed but combine the both...the new fourm of ls v tec....good luck with the swap you choose...
if you decide to go with an ek i got the mounts. axles, and harness ready for k swap

why buy a V8 that guzzle down gas like hell and is way heavyer...when u can get half as much cylinders, put it into a lighter car and still hang or beat a V8

K20, the deck height is higher on the K24 and won't fit under the hood.
We just barely got the K20 to clear a SiR Hood. We cut out the reinforcement over the valve cover and it works for now. We'll see if engine movement makes it touch anyway. We're seriously less than a CM away from it at the dipstick and oil cap.

JERMS, i'll pay you $3000 for a K20 swap. You'll make $1000. PM me where.

wrong wrong wrong

K24a2 has 200hp and 166 torque. The crv k24a1 has 160hp and the same torque. A2 is the way pllus its a lot cheaper and if you really want power later on u have the option to put a k20a2 or even a k20a head on. Check out theksource.com for a dyno of that setup 230+ hp and 180+ torque to the wheels

the swap itself is is difficult but you can get all the parts u need from hasport and in the commin months hybrid-racing is making the kit and harness for the ef civic

Neither:

K20A3 - Garbage econo motor

K24 - Hood MUST be cut no matter what
99mm stroke means 7500+ on the stock bottom end is taking a risk
With bolt ons, hondata etc you can make 180+ lbs of torque, good luck
putting that to the ground in a daily driven car

Personally in an EF id rather have a K20A, you dont need that much torque in a 2000lb CRX, it clears using an SiR style hood.

If the car will only be used for drag, its gutted, slicks etc and you dont mind cutting up your hood to make it fit by all means go for the K24 from the TSX, they are cheaper and I think if you look around you can find some of the brand new motors that were available after the train wreck of TSXs

K20A3 is the base USDM Si civic/base RSX motor and is nowhere near like a CTR motor which is also the SAME as the DC5 motor with the exception of a slightly different exhaust manifold resulting in a 3ps difference, everything else is the same besides the idler pulley.

Which is why I'm not even going to mention that motor.
