right in the middle of the two circles is where you want it to be.

Keep the oil in between the two circles, and below the bottom circle is too low. It should take one quart to bring it from the lower circle to the upper circle. Always check when car is on a level surface and hasn't been run for 15 minutes.

You could put a cardboard box under your car after driving it for awile, like overnight, and see if there is any oil on it in the morning. You could also have somebody follow you down the highway as you accelerate quickly, looking for some smoke. Probably nothing to worry about tho. Oh ya, one more thing, some synthetic oils won't produce a visible smoke, but you can smell it, very distinctive.

the 2 most common causes of oil burning ..besides leaks of head gasket and other seals that externally leak...are valve guides and blowby from the rings...if you said your valve guides are wearing..the common symptom is when the car sits overnight it will smoke in the morning because of the leaking of oil when the guide sits after expanding and contracting...this happens all the time in shitty domestics...also if you have beat ur car untuned and have used nitrous or a turbo..over time it can cause the rings to wear and u will get blowby past the rings which will also burn oil..with synthetic it will be hard to notice except for the smell and occasionally a small buildup of greasy residue around the exhaust tip..but the combination of both will definitely cause ur oil level to drop on average about every 3 -4 weeks with daily driving ..sooner if u drive like me 6k shifts daily driving..but i built my motor for 6k daily shifts...so that might not be water in the morning

downshift on the highway and step on the gas, if there is smoke, it's probably valve seals... maybe worn out guides.
