Default Polish or Not?

I picked up some old school bbs rims from a friend of mine for cheap and I just wanted to clean them up. They are three peice rims. I decided to take the lips off and polish them. So I took the clearcoat off today with some aircraft striper. I was surprised how shiny it turned out. Here is a comparsion from each rim. Should I even bother polishing the lips. Or should I just spray a couple coats of clear coat on them and leave them alone. Up for suggestions?

The lips on the rim on the left look mangled and probably need straightening. I'd polish them though. It's all about the polished lip.

I found a place to fix the rims but damn its going to be real expensive. They want like $150 a rim to fix and I only paid $50 for all four rims.
