Default Mini me swap on a 1988 honda DX EF D15 carburated. Help!!

I know there a bunch of info on this swap but I can't find it. I just needed to know if this swap is duable on a carburated D15 on a 88 Honda Civic hatch ef. If any one also has a completed kit for this swap I will gladly take it off your hands for a reasonable price!! Also If anyone knows of some links on this swap please let me know.

thanks

Your car is not carburated, it's DPFI - Dual Point Fuel Injection. You can easily swap the head and make a mini-me. You could actually reuse the DPFI manifold but the power would suffer. It would be best to do an MPFI swap at the same time as the head swap.

So can I use the d16y8 head and use like a injector box and I guess I will also be using the d16y8 timing belt right. Will I still need the D16y8 ecu? Or do you know wich computer I can use. Thanks allot for your help.

You WILL want the D16Y8's ECU. Your car has 2 injectors, not 4, so obviously it wont know what to do. when u get the D16Y8 head, get the D16Y8 Intake manifold from a 96-98 Civic EX AUTOMATIC. Then that manifold will go onto that head with no wiring issues. You will have to do a SIMPLE wire trick if you get the IM from a m/t car. If you want me to simplify this, PM me. I can imagine this mini-me swap would be almost night and day cause lets face it, your motor is reliable, but a piece of ****, its so slow.

you don't want the d16y8 ecu because it is obd2
you need a p28 ecu from a 92-95 civic si/ex and an obd0-obd1 conversion harness
obd2 ecu will not work

This is good info if he were swapping the head onto a D16Y7 in an EK. He has an OBD0 D15B... therefore an OBD1 conversion with P28 as mentioned would be the best route. Of course you can stay OBD0 and have the ECU chipped to control VTEC (Uberdata) but not have the proper fuel maps when VTEC is engaged. Using a VTEC controller or simple RPM switch to activate VTEC will also work, but again nothing is better than the OBD1 conversion with P28 ECU.

Thats the problem with Mini-me swaps. The fuel maps are never perfect.
