make sure the clutch and pressure plate are seated fully and if there are any dowels get them lined up to. I had a problem once with a D series motor doing the same thing, we had to pull the shift arm up on the tranny to get it to seat, maybe try that?
Mine didn't seem to want to mate to the block either, but I just started a couple bolts up top and two underneath alittle at a time and it pulled it together nicely. Don't force anything. If I remember right, it was about a quarter inch gap that I couldn't push any farther, then I just started the bolts and crossed my fingers. Everything went well and is perfect now.
If you tried it that many times, it's possible that you may have shifted the clutch plate around... If this is the case, loosen the pressure plate bolts, put the alignment tool back in, retighten the bolts and see if it'll line up with the spline in the tranny...

either
1. they gave you the wrong clutch, cable and hydro are different,
2. you moved the clutch around and not wont go back in..
you should get someone to help you install it, with 1 person its difficult.

Thats why I put "either"
but if the input shaft is different, its not gonna go in.
