frame damage ??? bad?
hello, well since my accident i am almost done fixing my bike.i dodnt notice it but when i tok my bike into a shop today to get a fork replaced, the guy saw some "frame damage." its on my 05 600rr on the left side...its just a bolt hole that holds on the resistor box i think.anyway, its just a tad bit dinged, just to where it started cracking the paint, its almost nothing, hairline.
question is-will this little little ding effect anything?highspeeds?
thanks

A mechanic at the local bike shop told me, that once your frame is bent, its pretty much fucked and fixing it wouldnt be much of help.....is that true? that there is no real fix to a bent frame???/

A little ding isn't going to hurt anything bro.People take the "Frame Damage" thing way too far.If you have a crack in your frame or a kink in one of the corners of the square frame tubing, ditch the frame, but a small ding will not weaken it.I have the same bike,05 600RR and I have a little ding in the right side of my frame, and it's fine.Frame is $1000 if you wanna run out and buy one.
We might want to hold off on judgement of this; none of us have seen it.
Sometimes it's really nothing. Others, though, can be larger problems than you'd anticipate based on their location and type.

sorry to hijack your thread but...
i crashed my r6 and the bolt taht held the frame slider on broke that lil tab of the frame off. i'm thinking of rebuilding my bike, is it alright to still use the frame you think? i'm serious too...

Frames can be straightened depending on the damage. I can tell you that every club racers bike has been down at least once and they are still being run flat out. If you are in any doubt then get it checked.
Engine mount tabs break all the time. Stunters have em welded back on regularly.
The only question I would have is did the force from the impact transfer and weaken/damage any other unseen areas of the frame?
I would have it checked out by a certified frame person. That is the only way I would feel safe riding it again.
