Default Tranny Question??????

I have a 90 civic HB Si, the shop i bought the car from had swapped in a sohc zc motor and it looks as if it is a Si transmission. How can you tell what kind of transmission I have. There is a number plate on the tranny that starts with L3-...... not real sure what that means, does anyone know if I call Honda and tell them that number they could find out what kind of tranny I have. Thanks

All 88-91 civic/crx transmissions were L3s. That is why they are so hard to tell apart. Someone posted a discussion on how to tell the difference. Anyone have a link??

There's no different , all of them are the same. DX, LX, Si (89-91) and 89-91 Civic Si (Japan ) zc = L3's.

Hey mista bone do you know how to tell what kind of tranny i have in my car? Its a 5-speed so that probably eliminates some of the tranny's. Any ideas?

yea i just got a tranny. the only codes i can pull off it are PL3, SL3, 100?

it has a stamp near where the starter mounts. that says PL3

theres a sticker that looks like a serial number that says SL3-*******

and on the split circle code area. the left little one says 2|15, the right larger one says *|100 i put a * cuz i cant read what the top half of the circle says on the larger one.

i haven't cleaned it completely yet. but those are the stamps/stickers i have found on it. he says it will bolt right onto a b series motor. but i have no clue. i bought it for a replacement for my b16a S1 tranny.

i'll clean it completely after work today. and see if i can pull other codes off.
