Tranny vent capped off. Is it supposed to be that way?
So my car came that way and it would make sense that the little tube at the top of the tranny has some kind of opening. But mine doesn't, It has a cap and has no opening... Is it supposed to be like that?
I know mine has a cap there but it is a vent. I took the cap off and filled it through it once then I learned about the vss trick and I've been using that ever since
I know it doesn't make sense to have a cap on it since it's a vent. I guess the cap is there just to keep anything from going down inside the tranny.

I see. Because i've seen other honda trannies that have a little hole on the side of the cap to vent it out.
dunno... weird.

Can't remember which is which, but my 94 and my 92 came with different caps. one had the side vent you describe, the other didn't. No clue why they're different, but I recall removing the one that didn't have the side vent and I believe it lets it vent from around the sides, but I'm not 100%. I do know there were both types, tho.
