Hurrican Katrina flooded my 97 Honda Civic DX. Where is the computer located at on that model; I had about 3-4 inches of water on the inside

 

it should be on the passenger side, right in front of the door. pull the carpet up in that area and you cant miss it.

 

Ouch that sucks, its behind the carpet on the passanger side kick panel, probably only about an inch under water.

 

So i guess my car is fucked huh?

Not necessarily. Remove the ECU from the car, open the cover, and allow it to thoroughly dry out. They reinstall it and see if you experience any problems. Even if you discover that the ECU is indeed damaged, a replacement will not be an exceptionally expensive item to source.

 

it has been sitting in my hot *** garage for about a week now, i am at a friends house. All the water was receeded from the car when i saw it a week ago, and we can only go into the city at certain times. Do u think the car would be alright to try and start?

Otherwise you WILL fry the ECU if you try and start the car with everything in there all wet. It could also create other electrical issues in the car itself.

 

I honestly would not try to start it until the ECU had been removed and thoroughly dried out. Even a small amount of remaining moisture could potentially cause a damaging short.
