Video of Phat-S spinning the CRX @ VIR last weekend
This is in-car from my 89 BMW 325is chasing Adam (Phat-S) in his CRX (with a *bit* too much rear brake bias) through turns 3-4-5 at VIR.
Very nice, Phat-S -- you even managed to stay on-line
I didn't know that turn 4 was supposed to be a 450 degree corner. Silly me, I've only been turning 90 degrees

That's great footage! Glad to see everyone came out unscathed.
Now only if Warren can get the footage of the infinite displacement Miata up...

I never get tired of that video . . .
I dunno what I like more - Adam's "mad skillz" that allow him to keep the car in the line so he can continue on or the fact that a lowly Civic outran an almighty BMW.

Umm... Wow. Adam, you weren't dizzy after that?
You sure whipped around in a hurry! and BTW... your car is loud. LOUD. In case you haven't noticed. Will that pass sound?

"Lowly" Civic. That's gutted, weighs 1800#, is on Hoosiers, and has a trailer to go home on. My 2800# slug is held together with duct tape and zip ties, crippled by a ghetto engine rebuild, starves for oil in left hand corners, on 98 build date Toyos that I bought used 2 years ago -- I'm just thankful every time it *completes* a lap. It's not all that mighty

I bet your car isn't very fast right now either, considering that you have to leave it in 1st gear all the time

Adam's a great driver, though, and he's going to get even faster when Giles and Shultzie are hounding him. Can't wait for CMP in April.

Translation: "I shoulda bought a Honda . . . "
BMW = Bearings Mostly Worn
BMW = Busted Mike's Wallet
Actually, the only big problems I have had with the car have been motor related. Lots of the Honda track folks I know have had problems with suspension and other drivetrain bits (or maybe just Karl).
Now, if I could figure out how to put a Honda motor in the BMW, it would be perfect
Hey Mike, I thought they kerblewie on long right handers, or is that just S14's? Too many engines, and too many cars.
I've got a baffle in mine, but I don't think you can buy a premade baffle for the other engines in E30's.

I imagine Karl could break a nerf ball so he isn't a good example.
A Honda motor huh? So you want to sacrafice power for reliability?

I'm retarded, too.

NOTE: Off Topic content ahead.
OK Dammit, I have to defend myself.
1. Ignition system = known trouble spot with G3 Integras.
2. Front end = well DAMN. 120K+ miles under these conditions = moving parts wearing out. Plus...my ball joint / wheel bearing / brake caliper / CV joint fiasco came right after I...
1. Got black flagged for "Flames from your brakes" (I have it on videotape)
2. Got a report of "glowing brake rotors" from the guy working T! at CMP in Nov.
But...really. I'm EASY on equipment. Especially when I'm chasing someone like Scott. Seriously.
--Karl, who tells himself some things to make himself feel better...

M20 = left-handers
Unforunately for M3 drivers, tracks have more right turns. Unfortunately for 325is drivers, there are so few long left hand corners that the problem is not widely known. Korman even thought I was crazy.
Here's what my bearings looked like. I caught it early, right after #6 spun: http://www.nogumracing.com/whitney/p...ings1-6_bH.jpg

It just slowed down the pressure drop. At VIR, noname -> Nascar I see a 30# drop, from 60 -> 30 psi. CMP turn 11 killed my motor -- 180 degree, top of 2nd gear left hander. Probably pulling close to 1.1 G's there -- far in excess of the design of the factory lubrication system.

The video, while have a "mpg" extension is likely a MPEG-4 encoded video. Quicktime doesn't support mpeg-4 yet (damn you apple).
I got it at work by running it in WIMP, I don't know if Mac-WIMP has a prayer.
If you are running virtual PC, just save it and run it in there.
Rumor is Quicktime will have mpeg-4 support shortly (something about licening issues?)
