I had a d15b in my 90 si hatch. All together shipped from Hmotors to indiana was 900 some dollars. I wasnt a big fan of the motor. Without some sort of forced induction on it, it isnt to much fun.

Personally I would wait for the B16. I wasted a ton of money swapping for a D15B and spending around 6k on it and finally swapped for my B16. MY stock B16 would of killed my D15B with all its mods. I regret not doing it right in the first place

ZC ain't all that either... I just got it to have something to drive while I rebuild my A6... They didn't have any single cams when I went to get a motor... so I settled for the ZC @ $450...

Its alot better then stock... and a good replacment motor if yours is blown.

But if you really want speed, then wait.

all in all I spend $1700 for my d15b swap, including installation, tranny, ecu, motor, conversion harness. I can say honestly that it is faster than my 00si w/ i/e. handed alot of cars their asses who have tried. Would I have gotten it if I had money for a b or k series? no, would I have gotten it if I was in your situation "unemployed", definitely, the a6 just cuts out to quick for me with the stock redline. This likes to rev comparably to my b16. When my manifold and dowpipe finally get here from bmc. It still would of cost less than a b16 swap and make more torque than a turbocharged stock b16 would with comparable numbers.
