Default 160-170 whp possible on 2000 si with mostly bolt ons??

Hi guys I'm picking up my EM1 in a couple days and have already starting thinking of making more power, the problem is this car will be my daily driver for a long time. I want to be able to make around 160 whp with mostly bolt ons and stock valve train...i'm thinking of getting a DC 4-2-1, and aem short ram as well as getting a ctr or itr intake manifold, is what i want anywhere near possible??

you could be close. I would recomend a better header and a good exhaust system! If you want to insure the horsepower then put a little nitrous to it!

u say u want mostly bolt ons?

I say do a little Skunk 2 intake mani, Bigger TB, Header+full exhaust, Maybe adjustable cam gears with some GOOD TUNING i say see if you can do it. 160whp aint totally out of the question. Then if you want more hit up a wet N2O kit. that will do it good luck

You want too much. Your Si probalby makes 120...we'll say 130 to be generous at the wheels stock. I am no expert on B16's or SI's or basic bolt ons but you want 40-50whp from a header, an exhaust and an intake. That is MAYBE 10-12whp right there. I dont know about intake manifolds but I wouldnt guess that it will give you the extra ponies you are looking for to reach 160 without doing naythign to the valvetrain.

Eh, I don't think it's possible.. Although if your willing to take out your AC & power steering that may get you a couple extra ponies.

In a magazine I have.. TPR (Tuner Performance Reports).. They have dyno's on b16 headers. Baseline was 138.1whp.. Now this may sound outrageous and I don't know how it's possible myself.. But the Hytech header+exhaust dyno'd a 51.1hp increase and brought the peak horsepower up to 189.2whp..

WOW! 51whp from a header and exhaust? How much does it cost

160whp is not going to be difficult at all with intake, intake manifold, quality header, hiflo cat, exhaust, cams, and tuning. Tuning is the most critical element here though.

yes tuning with the right parts will yield you alot more power than you think! you said you dont want to touch the valvetrain but why dont you get some ctr cams with itr valvetrain? i think you can do it if you do it the right way!!

Just what I was thinking (an age-old debate no less). A mild Greddy Turbo at 5psi would most likely yield the best bang for the buck. Less strain for daily drivers at low rpms vs a roots blower, and more upgrade options than a centrifugal supercharger.

This kit for example includes fuel management and injectors for 3K, and you can find them used for about 1.5 - 2K:

http://www.greddy.com > "Turbo" > "Bolt on Kits"

Anyway, hope that helps.
