should I bring my type R to college?
I'll have a garage to park her in at night, which i'll have to pay 80 bucks a month for. My main concern is parking in the campus parking lot where potential thieves may be lurking. Hopefully, vandalism won't be an issue. My campus has lot patrol ( the guards ride around campus on bikes, although I don't think they are very effective). Cars have been stolen off the campus I'm attending even with lot patrol. I'm going to a large university in southern california. If anybody has any input about parking a phoenix yellow type R on a college campus parking lot, your insight is more than welcome. I would hate to be paranoid while trying to take notes in class. My other option is to drive a camry or avalon. But who wants to drive that when you have a type R sitting at home?

I promise a car with a load of young girls who haven't a care in the world except what their makeup looks like will manage to park beside you and push their doors wide open without ever realizing what they've done. I've seen it a hundred times.

Where you going? USC? cause i'm gonna still ur hype R...just jk..
No doubt leave your car at home if you care about your R cause you should be more worried about your school work than a car even though it's an R. If you bring it to school, that's all you're going to be thinking.......save you 80 bucks per month....after college with good grades and a well pay job you'll be able to afford many Rs as you can

yea.it'll definitely be hard to concentrate if i'm always wondering if my car will be there after class.
*I wonder how some of the other students who bring type Rs to school concentrate. I guess they don't.

if you have the option to take another car, then why not use it?! it makes no sense putting your car in danger especially when 99% of the time you'll be in class

dude, a camry or avalon would make a great beater. Although driving the R is a lot more fun than driving one of the aforementioned sedans, you won't be doing much driving while in school... or at least enough driving to necessitate the risk.

I would discourage you taking your car but if you REALLY want to dont park on college campus.. get a bike for that. greasemonkee was right; I have so many dents on my door. You even said it yourself, campus patrol is ineffective.
well, if ya like picking up chicks at uni, the maybe concider the R man!, but its car theft is high in ur area, and there is a high chance of sum1 playing around wit ur R then keep it at home. I'm in Australia, and its not that bad here, so i would drive it to uni. couldn't resist not driving it. I bought the car i DRIVE it, but thats cause i only have 1 car. If u got another comfortable ride, like camry/avolon, why not drive that instead.

You would not get to keep it long... Ask your self a question : how many college cars live through college???

waited to get his R till he got his degree and was making $40k+ a year..... there will be more R's..... good luck at school</TD></TR></TABLE>
Funny, but familiar.
When I was in school I had a '95 Eclipse RS that I thought was the heat. I couldn't have dreamed of an ITR in school. There's no way I could have swung the car payments/tires/race entries making $8.00 an hour part time as a bike mechanic.
Anyhow, do what you want because it's just a car. If it's going to drive you mad thinking about it, don't do it. However, if you have great insurance coverage and are willing to accept the risk, proceed.

I've seen a few Type Rs parked at my southern california campus... As someone stated before have good insurance, be careful and do what you want. BTW I find the R more like a sausage magnet than chick magnet.
I am going to leave my car at home all day. I really do not see any problems with parking it on campus though, upset for the cost of parking. Full coverage insurance is there for a reason, so I am not going to fret about where I park her. But I do not want to pay $600 a year for campus parking.
