did compression test, look good for boost?
so in school today we did a leakdown and compression test on my 91 si with the stock d16a6. for the compression from 1-4 is was 200-210-200-210 and the leak down for 1-4 was 14%-23%-15%-13%. Im very happy with the numbers for the car being 14 years old and having 167,7xx miles on it. do you guys think this motor can handle 5-7 lbs daily driven?
id like to throw in some arps but this is a budget build while im in college. think im gonna see how she can handle 5-7 pounds with some tuning. I went on ShopKey after we did the test and the specs for a fresh motor are about 240 psi, so im rather happy with my results.
ARP's are quite cheap, and well worth it. My friend blew a HG on his stock Y8 bolts. Head bolts are technically only supposed to be used once anyways, and with boost I wouldn't reuse them at all. Head studs can be reused and are cheaper than new OEM bolts. The only downside to them is that you have to retighten them after you first install them and drive around (not a problem with a sohc, but a pain in the *** with a B series).
