Default Ls/vtec iron sleeves

I just got an LS block b/c I plan on building an Ls/VTEC motor. I looked at the cylinder bores and they look iron but I took this motor out of a completely stock LS...

I dont know much about LS motors since ive only owned b16a and d16a6 engines...

So I want to know, do any of you guys know if the block is supposed to come stock with iron sleeves?

maybe you got lucky and someone got u a sleeved block? lol probably not. Stock ls sleeves on my b18b1 were thin iron with about the same thickness aluminum around the outside of them. dartons are thicker than both layers combine and one solid color as opposed to dark in the middle and lighter around the edges of the cyl walls.

Pretty much all sleeves are iron to some extent (at least the inner cylinder bore). Aftermarket sleeves are solid iron as opposed to any kind of layers and offer significantly more strength. If you are considering aftermarket sleeves, may I suggest looking into Benson sleeves before anything else.
