DAMN! That bolt fucked you up. Dont worry man same **** happened to me once, not that harsh though. I was able to catch it before the belt blew up. I was beyond pissed. Hopefully you turn out lucky like me and no valves bent. I suggest changing the crank gear as well as the belt because mine was fucked and caused the belt to jump.
that cant be good
hope you get it back up and running soon ...i hate when **** breaks on my car

damn man that same **** happened to me when i ripped the bolt outta the block that holds the mount on with a good launch and i didnt even know it.. i stopped at a stop light and went to go and the car died...
sat around for 20 miunutes trying to figure out why it died then took off the cover looked just like yours.. so after that i tapped the block put in a helicoil and took that plastic cover off the timing belt all together just incase it pulled out again... people wierded out on me when they saw my motor with no timing belt cover on it whatsoever

I personally believe that, as far as a Honda Civic goes anyway, I can do better working on the car using the service manual, than a non-certified mechanic can without it. Therefore I do most of my work myself. Except alignments :-p
What sort of service was being performed when this happened?
Do you have any valve damage from when the engine jumped time from the shredded belt?
Is the person/shop fixing the damages?
Just curious since I run a shop myself. I'm fortunate to have excellent techs that have not ever (not since I've been herem 5 years) made mistakes such as that.
People make mistakes though, and as long as the shop is fixing it and they are apologetic I'd say good deal.

I too am about fed up with letting other people do my work. Thing is, I don't have the tools or space to do my own work. Example: I gave my car to my brother to finish putting my rear suspension on, when I got the car back it had the suspension on plus the mid-pipe in my exhaust had been replace. No resonator anymore. He said my exhaust sat too low (...and?) so he replaced it. The new piece also gave me an exhaust leak. I can't wait til I get my house so I can start doing my own work.

Good luck, hope the internals are well
