Starting Problems 89 civic d15 motor
I had some electrical problems with my car, i changed the alternator, found a short and fixed up the butcher wiring job on the car in general from teh horn to the fog lights etc..
I have been having some odd starting problems, where the engine light, lights up and it cranks over, but doesnt want to start (though im able to bump start it), if I wait sometimes the engine light goes away after 10min and I start like nothing happened.
WTF is it? its starting to really **** me off, could it be the ECU or some sensor? plz help

pull back your passenger side carpet there will be a gold plate with a hole in it, if not just take the plate off, anyway through the hole you can count the flashes have someone turn the key to the "start" position, but do not crank
count the flashes, there will be 1 initail flash. it just initializes the system. so if you just see one red blink your fine
if your not throwing a code it could be a few things, it could be a bad main relay, starter relay, fuel pump, filters, clutch saftey switch on its last leg etc, check your codes and get back to us

I went to the front passenger side, lifted the carpet, turn the key to on etc.. and the LED light didnt light up at all.... the metal plate is pretty rusty, i dunno if there water getting inther or something. Any advise would be very appreciated.
then take that plate off, its like 6 10mm nuts...
pull the ecu loose but leave it connected, then try this again, make sure your going all the way to the start position, if your not getting any blinks, then its probably your main relay, you should get 1 blink just to initialize the system, if you see one blink your good if not the main relay controls the ecu and fuel pump etc... go get a closer look now that its dark and see if its blinking
