So I just blew my bearing on my number 1 rod and it sent the rod and piston for a joy ride, they destroyed my block... to make a long story short... i need a new block! i own a 00 civic ex with the stock d16y8, i have my HANDS on a d16y7 full motor and trans... i want to take my head off the y8 and stick it on the y7, is this possible??? i would think it would be but the valve angles might be diff and i don't know bout anything else... please help!!! any info is good info, THANKS!!

the blocks are exactly the same. stick they y7 block in and you'll basically still have a y8.

nope. you'll have a y8 (basically)...but it'll say y7 on the block. they're the same so there will be no changes in compression/power. stick with your y8 tranny. the y7 has longer gears.

you'll definetly want to rebuild it. so go with the y7 so you can drive and not be rushed to fix the y8
