Default question for those who are wearing jackets every ride

Most of the riders that are here have sport bikes, now my question is towards the "gear *****."

If/when you no longer can ride leaned over, and need to switch to the cruiser, will you continue to ALWAYS wear your jacket? Also will you still wear a full helmet?

I honestly would on both accounts. Black leather jacket and some sort of matte or flatte black helmet. I'd hate to damage my Ben Afflecky good looks

Yes, because drivers dont decide "hey its a cruiser i guess i wont slam into it" i dont think they care what you ride, at least i hope they dont. But either way ive seen what road rash looks like at 40 mph, which is why i wear my gear all the time.

You can always ride leaned over no matter what age, there is just a point where you can't get off the bike as much

I know plenty of guys in there 60's and older riding sport bikes.

If I ever go cruiser or sport tourer I might move to textiles and I'm sure I'll continue to wear my full face helmet.

That's a long way away though and lately I've been thinking more about a naked bike then a cruiser.

I've been debating getting a cruiser (second bike) for when my wife starts riding 2 up with me so I've kinda thought about this. I can't see myself in a condom cap and leather vest, even when I'm older, so it's likely I'd go leather and full face w/o graphics when my gear isn't doing double duty.

why old?

the VROD is awseome, fun bike to ride.

The reason i ask is i rode my friends this past week - and had his german style helmet on with sunglasses. Mind you this was just around a neighborhood, but it was exhilirating.

its a lot more comfortable to ride around .. my feet kicked back, was a comfortable ride.

and I'm only 22 .. just turned 6 days ago

I rode my first standard in Alaska (Harley 883) and I couldn't believe how comfortable it was.

I mean how cool would it be to have one of these too?

I deffly would want both a crotch rocket and a cruiser.

they are two totally different bikes but both great in their own ways.

Ive got buddies that are 55 and still tearing it up in the twisties and track. A full face helmet is just more comfortable to me. Dont think you can really get too old to wear a jacket

i'll always continue to wear my leather jacket and full faced helmet. I may be too stubborn to admit later in life that it's too uncomfortable to ride a sportbike and just stick with it. But, i do love all bikes. I would still wear a leather jacket and full faced helmet on a cruise as well.

A high school chick was all about my car this past weekend... true story.

Shame I drove a '94 Sentra when I was in HS.

Why wouldnt you keep wearing a helmet and wearing a jacket? Thats like getting older and just deciding to remove the seat belts from your car and unbolting the seats.

I see a lot of people that ride cruisers wearing t-shirts and those half helmets... I think he was asking if we would start doing that if we move to riding one.
