The f3 is a very good bike. They are rock solid and are very easy to ride.

They will be a little down on power and slightly heavier than most modern day sport bikes but they are still very capable. Upper 80-low 90 hp and they have a steel frame instead of aluminum. (They started that in 99 on the f4 for the 600 line)

Only known issues are voltage regulator and cam chain tensioner. If you are getting a really good deal I say go for it.

Parts are readily available, and some/many of the parts are interchangable with the f2.

I agree with cbrman, they're very nice bikes. I went with a +4 sprocket, pipe and k&n to give it more acceleration, you'd be surprised how close they are to the newer bikes.

well I'm moving up from an old 83 nighthawk 550 I picked up super cheap to learn on. But the price is good for the miles (only 7k) and the extra savings I can repaint it np or just not care... And also I'm more interested in the sport touring bikes right now rather then a super sport like the r6 or 600rr. I'm nowhere near ready for one of those. Sounds like I'm going to jump on this deal then...

You would be surprised with the F3 with a few add ons. I have a full yosh pipe, stage 1 jet kit, -1 front sprocket, and 520 race chain conversion. I dyno'd 97 hp at the rear wheel at an open house. I have raced my buddies R6's and Gixxer 600 and I am right there beside them. The F3 is a great bike and I think you would enjoy a lot. I know I do!! Good luck on the buy and let us know how it works out!!

No offence, bro, but you are only hangin with the supersports because you're probably a better rider than they are..There's no way an F3 will keep up with the newer FI supersports...However,the F3 is a great bike with plenty of power for a beginner.

My f3 would but then again that could be because the engine in mine is SS prepped and the suspension is worked/tuned.

Now if you take a new 600 with all of this prep work then yeah it will once again my f3 will show it's age.

This is the last 4 stroke carb'd street bike I will ever own. After stepping up to fuel injection on the 929 I am not missing the pain of carbs.....

AIminiS10: 97rwhp seems kinda high for the mods you have. Stock f3's were in the mid 80 hp range if I am not mistaken. I know mine is putting in ~103.XX and it has way more work than yours does.

did you have it run on more than one dyno? At what altitude was this done at?

I know a perfectly tuned f3 with factory pro jet kit and +4 ignition advance will put down ~85rwhp. It seems that a 12hp gain is kinda high for a yosh full system.

I will have to dig it up it is somewhere amongst all of my bike paperwork. It was dyno'd when installed and I was running nutec when it was put on the dyno It was done by the certified dyno tuner in pinellas park florida about 6-7 yrs ago.

My engine has the following:
p&p intake/exhaust ports and bench flow'd head
3 angle valve job
aftermarket valves, springs and retainers (HRC ?)
hrc cams with ape came gears
hrc black box (I tried dyna 2000, v&h powerpak and hrc was the best by far.)
ignition advance
factory pro titanium jet kit
k&n filter
full two bros exhaust
lightened flywheel
barnett clutch
factory pro shift kit
hrc clutch springs
ape cct
carb cold start warming crap bypassed
......

I am sure there is more but I can't remember as it has been a while and the f3 is now the second bike as I ride the 929 all the time now. It has most of the HRC spares kit on it as well as the engine was built for racing. I will have to see if I can locate all the paperwork with all the engine specs and see if I cant find the documentation from when I bought it back in late 98. I recently moved so I may have to dig a little. I believe the bottom end is stock but don't quote me on that. I bought it off an ex 600cc sportbike racer. It was his #1 backup engine from the 98 season.

I know it is hard to believe that an f3 can put down those numbers so it doesn't surprise me that someone is asking for the dyno.

I posted it up a long time ago on one of the forums cause someone called bs on me. I will see if I can't locate it as well if I can't locate the paperwork right away.

My friends now how to ride. I am not saying that I beat them, but I am side by side with them. I hang very well with them. This is with an 02 R6, not a FI one though.

I was just posting what the dyno sheet showed after I got it done. It was done at an open house and I don't really know what the altitude is to be honest with you. I have never ran it on any other dyno. It was 5 bucks to do it and I thought it would be interesting just to see what it was. This was on a dynojet also. I didn't mean to post this to cause any problems. I was just posting what info I had. I just wanted to tell the original poster that the F3 is a good bike to have and I enjoy it!!

I enjoy my F3 all the time, this is the second summer I've had with it and I will probably keep it for one more before I step up to something different (thinking RC51). I highly recomend starting out on an F3

cbrman..Not trying to be an ***,bro.I just like to see dyno sheets when people claim numbers.I am not implying in any way that you were lying so don't take it the wrong way.Very impressive list of mods you've got there.I'll looking forward to seeing the dyno graph.I hope you're able to find it,as it sounds impressive for an F3.

AIminiS10..Now that you mention it's not an FI model R6,it doesn't surprise me that you can hang with him.I was actually surprised one day when my friend with an 01 Carbed R6 and me with my 05 600RR went for a ride and I could totally wax him.Like I mean catch up and pass action here.I was very surprised with the situation,as I expected more from the Carbed R6.I guess that just shows you the difference that new technology makes in performance.Sorry if I came off the wrong way.

It's all good man....I should have said that it wasn't FI from the beginning and yes it is amazing what FI does on a bike compared to being carb'd. The throttle response is just amazing on a FI bike, I know that is what I will be getting when I sell my bike and step up to some newer technology.

I'd love to find an older carb'd r6. I love the looks of the bike but don't want the absolutely insane hp and trottle response that the new ones can give
