you cant still be dpfi,, you need a resistor box, and ALL 4 injectors

First off, you need to be using the Z6 headgasket, not the D15B2 one. I would check for vacuum leaks as well, that could be a culprit to your fluctuating idle. What ecu are you using? Honestly, I would do the MPFI wiring now.

From your first post, it sounded like you did get the car to run. I guess I read it wrong. Anyway, I would check to see that everything lines up a TDC. Since you are using a 1.5 bottom with a 1.6 head, with everything lined up, the cam gear will be half a tooth off.

what would need to be done to resolve the problem with the cam gear being a half-tooth off. Would the person need to buy an aftermarket cam gear and adjust it or what? Just wondering because I plan on doing this swap if I can't get enough money for the b16a swap.

I cant say for a fact if you can use the b2 gasket, you probably can. Did you clean the old gasket off the block? It has to be clean, all the way to the metal without scratches.

For the timing, an adjustable gear will fix it. But if your cheap do this.
Set the cam at TDC, Set the crank at TDC. The belt will go on but it will be loose as hell on the left side (facing cam gear). You have two choices, advance the cam a tooth or retard it. My vote is to retard the cam a tooth, mainly cause I advanced mine and had detonation problems.

So turn the gear one a little bit clockwise to retard it. Now you can get the belt one tooth over so it is tighter on the left. Make sure the tensioner is loose, turn the cam and crank CCW about a two teeth, the belt should be tight all the way around. Tighten the tensioner. You'll probably have to advance the distributer to even things out.

Invest in a timing gun if you dont have one.

Remember there is a jumper you need to short when adjusting the distributer. Do you have a timing gun?

I am pretty sure the headgaskets for older years have been changed to the metal type not the oragnic last time i checked, but i could be wrong. was yours metal??? The DPFI setup is pretty shitty if going for performance by the way and u should conert to MPFI ASAP. Now for the more in depth stuff, since u used a d15 block that has a slightly shorter deck height than the z6 u must compensate for the half a tooth u will be off on cam timing by using a cam gear and setting it to 4.75 degrees advanced, I just did 5 degrees on my boys car. Next up did u pull the oil control jet out of the block when u put the head on??? casue if not u will never get vtec to work. U will need some way to enguage vtec or your car is not gonna do **** about 5000 rpm's or so, it will just fall on its face. U are gonna run hella lean too with that 1.5 ecu and DPFI, especially if u just enguge vtec with a rpm switch, or push button . It would be nice to convert to ODB1 and jst run a p28 ecu like the Z6 uses in the EG's, or u could go MPFI ODB0 and use a VAFC or some other piggy back to control vtec and adjust fuel curve for it. U have many options none of them are really cheap though. I have a MPFI swap i am selling as well as a VAFC so if your interested hit me with a pmBy the way u could have found all these answeres and more if u searched, there are many writeups on how to do a mini me.

yo 95 si i did pull the oil jet and i am definately converting to mpfi...wanted to make sure that the biggest issue like the head was workin fine first before i do wiring and such(mpfi parts are being delivered) it honestly sounds like cam timing it sounds like a wrx when u floor it but it takes at least like 4 seconds to get at like 5000rpms......this doesent have anything to do with using dpfi right? is it not getting enogh gas to even run? im not a noob or nething i just never went this far as in swapping heads....help me out...what else could it be?

Iono.. i think you should keep ur motor... I did a couple of swaps for my buddies, and mini me conversions... and I learned through experience that TDC doesn't mean it will fire or even run for that matter... What I found on is that TDC markings don't always mean they ARE TDC... What I did was I aligned my buddies camgear and crankpulley with other d16s... hopefully that would help. It worked for me... Just try it.. its all plug and play...
