steering wheel vibrating at idle
The steering wheel in my '95 Civic EX coupe has started vibrating at idle, whether it is in park, neutral or drive. Once the RPM's reach about 1100 the vibration stops. I have had one motor mount replaced. How many motor mounts are there and could this problem be related to the transmission? There is no vibration that I can tell in the dashboard or other areas of the car. Thanks.
not sure of the EG, but my EK has 4 mounts, I think..
Steering wheel will be the 1st place to notice a rough idle or vibration of sorts, as its mounting positions and leverage design seems to make it pick up smaller vibes and transmit them through the steering column/shaft..
Check steering rack bushings, as well..

no, it wont make it unsafe to drive. it will be noisey, or vibrate more, but thats about all you are looking at.
my eg has 5 mounts... i cant remember if the EX has the 2 front torque mounts stock or not, but there are those 2, the 2 side mounts (one on the driver side of the motor and the other on the tranny), and the rear mount, underneath the intake manifold behind the motor.
just check those out, if some are badly broken, it will cause some extra movement. or unlike mine, i have poly inserts, so everything shakes b/c it is stiffer. good luck.

The steering rack bushings don't seem to be the problem. There is no vibration there. Also there does not seem to be any vibration in the steering colume, at least on the outside of the firewall. They just can't find where the vibration is coming from. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
try adjusting the steering rack adjuster. Big locknut (32mm??.... maybe even bigger) along the edge of the steering rack. loosen the locknut, then screw in the adjuster till it bottoms, then back it out about 1/16-1/8 turn. relock giant nut and see if that helps.
try some fuel injector cleaner....may be your fuel injectors.
my steering wheel shakes a little and then i add some fuel injector cleaner and everything is gone. idk...maybe my car is special but thats how i fixed my steering wheel shaking problem...
