You're probably thinking about whether you'd want/use adjustability or not, so I'll just give my reasoning for getting Mugen...

It makes me sound lazy, but I just didn't want to deal with installing the whole EDFC system. It also seemed like I'd have to leave the rear mounts uncovered for the adjuster modules to fit, and I can't really do that -- I still carry stuff in my car that might damage them. I don't want to deal with potentially rusted-out spring perches (not a problem in Hawaii, though), and I don't think that I'd have enough reasons to adjust & tweak things.

I just wanted something with OEM reliability, and with good street manners and great overall handling without me having to fiddle with it any more. That's why I got my Mugen SS.

Just adding on that I don't think you can go wrong with either setup; just depends on what you want to do with 'em.

Thats what i was leaning towards, the Mugen. Not because of the NAME, but because of the fact that they engineer the suspension to work with the chasis of the car. Its tested and been proved. The other reason was beause i dont wanna deal with coil overs. its nice to have some flexability in ride height, but with each adjustment, u take into consideration of how it also will affect the spring rate. And lastly the purpose that i am doing a suspension swap. When i got the car, it had eibach sportline lowering springs with stock struts. They are now going out, and the handling has gotten a tad jumpy at turns with bumps and gaps.

I am using these to go up and down the mountain. I know that people on this board are strongly oppsed to mountain driving, but the thing is, on the tiny island of kauai, there is no auto-x events. I've been trying to get auto-x to come to kauai, but have no idea how to organize it. Mountain driving is bad, but its the only thing that us people here on kauai have that even comes close to fun. If anyone knows how i can maybe start and annual auto-x here, i am more than willing to listen. Its a lot safer and i think it would be a big hit here.

See if you can get the SCCA involved, bring it up with car clubs, and -- seriously -- see what the police would think about drivers taking advantage of a closed, controlled, thoroughly-regulated performance driving event that's held away from public roads.

Picasso and I would both use the same materials, but he can make it look better; you'll need to paint a good picture of autocross in order to sell it to people who don't know enough about it. Getting an endorsement from local authorities will go a long ways towards making an autocross series successful.

that would be classified as a hill climb.

look into other car clubs that do performance driving events. porsche, bmw, non-marque clubs may be staging events like that near you.

fwiw, i ran the autocross, rallycross, and ice racing events for a club in michigan for 3 years. it's a rather large undertaking, but if you have people to help you, especially experienced people, it makes it easier.

the largest obstacle for hillclimbs is dealing with the municipality the event will be staged at. the hillclimb my previous club used to stage was in extreme efforts towards revival, but insurance versus property damage concerns were among the biggest sticking points.

i don't know if this will come into play, but when we held ice races, one of the largest concerns wasn't the thickness of the ice, but the fluids that might drip from the vehicles. the department of natural resources was really very strict about our inspections for the vehicles and the effects oil, gas, coolant, etc. would have on the health of the lake when the ice melted.

just sharing some experience. don't let it deter you. if you start up something like this, you have to put control in place to be able to meatball any competitor for various reasons, particularly recklessness. it's not easy to boot someone from an event if their actions are going to prevent you from staging anymore events there. having a good relationship with the local authorities definitely helps in this aspect.

good luck!
