Distributer rotor screw help
I attempted to change out my dist. cap and rotor but i ran into a lil prob, i couldnt get the screw out from the rotor! i stripped it just a lil bit n got scared and seeing if anyone had this prob. should i spray wd-40 to lube it? i willl try again tomorow. What if the screw is stripped, is there any way to get the rotor off or the screw?

don't spray it with anything... it would make it even harder to take out since it will be slippery
another member was going to try jb welding a screw driver to the screw... if you go this route, tape anything but the screw.. you don't want to weld anything but the screw and screwdriver
You could try drilling into the screw's head with a dremel or some tiny wheel of kind to make a new channel for the screwdriver
or you could use "easy out" to extract the bolt... just be careful

just be carefull and take your time, if the screw is still tight you can use a pair of mole grips(vicegrip) to get it turning

Yeah the rotor could use with replacing, kind of a lot of carbon on the contact tab.
I did this about 2 months ago, and lucky me, i had a LARGE screwdriver (i mean over a foot long) and twisted hard once, that worked. Don't twist harder and harder, give it one hard twist. That screw is wide and meant for a very big screwdriver.
IF that fails, might try takin a dremel. Hack at the old dizzy cap, so that you can get the tips of a big set of vice grips on the screw. Also could take a dremel to the screw if its stripped, make a line, and go at it with a flathead.

I've had this happen to me and what I did I broke the top off the rotor and with sone pliers broke the plastic around the scew and used some pressure pliers to get the screw out. wd40 will help. when you get the screw out the metal ring(inside part of the rotor) might be stuck to the distributor shaft here you will need a pair of pliers and a long standard screw driver. losely put the pliers around the distributor shaft as to catch on the ring. then pry on the pliers with the screwdriver while you hold the pliers, but do not squeeze the pliers. make sure you find a strong area to pry from
