ebay strut bars
are these worth buying? right now i have no suspension upgrades. im putting together 2-275whp daily driver. i dought it will ever be autoXd.im getting aftermarket springs & struts.
they are all the same...ive had name brand and generic....if someone out there can tell a difference in driveability between generic and name brand id like to hear what they have to say
i only have used and would only consider the neuspeed front strut bar. and i personally like it and know its making a difference in stiffening the front of the chassis.
however, do not consider it a suspension device. its nothing like adding a swaybar or changing springs. strut bars dont even belong in the same sentence as swaybars.
i dont care for ebay bars. i wouldnt bother with them, just because im a snob.

I totally agree with you on this. "if it fits, where it", correct me if I'm wrong; but somthing I have came up with for the difference in performance is this; Ebay strut bars (well the ones I've seen) are tubular, and more than likley hollow, meaning when stress it put on them they will tend to twist more or have more give since they are hollow, compaired to a DC sport one or any other brand where theirs are solid and/or more of a rectangle, and being solid there is no gap of air for them to give into, forcing the body to stay in one place more. and other than that, if thats true or not, I belive you pretty much pay for the brand name and appearance.

I'm not saying that, I'm saying the ebay ones probably twist just a little more, problaby not enough to make a big difference, and I'm saying when buying a brand name one you are paying for it to look better than the ebay ones that are just plain silver.

gahhh!! why do you even bother comparing the two!
thats like comparing a goddam new shift lever to an intake.

I did a little test and asked people that owned strut bars if they noticed a difference, it was a 50/50 kind of deal. Look into fender braces if you are really looking to stiffen the chassis up.
Well....ebay strut bars have threaded adjustments. Strut bars are supposed to keep the front end twisting. How will a threaded adjustment prevent that? Here's the answer - they won't. They might provide a tiny bit of fender to fender stiffness but little else. A solid bar with no threaded adjustments is the way to go (Neuspeed). I recently put one on my mostly stock 89 CRX Si and could feel a improvement (don't expect miracles, it just makes the front end more solid...).
i have a neuspeed and have had cheap ebay ones, either way they do make a difference, on my crx if i jacked up the rear on the side by the jacking point if you opened the hatch when jacked up- the hatch would actuall hit the body and scrape the paint when the strut bar is on the body doesnt twist- so it does something noticible, also the dc ones are worse than ebay ones has anyone actuall pushed on them they flex over 2" when pushed on my $10 ebay bar wouldnt bent more than a mm or 2
