"Rebuilding My B16A, What internals Should I go With"
Hey, rebuiling my jdm b16a engine.. What internals should i go with? LIke what cam shafts to use if i should upgrade valve train with stage 1 cams.? what brand name pistons to use, n that r a good brand?.. I heard Crane Cams were a good camshaft to go with? Let me Know... thanks
there are alot of choice out there what are your power goals? what are you looking for out of the car? daily driver? 1/4mile car? a autox car? what is the max you wanna spend on the rebuild?
if ur only gonna be using stage 1 cams u dont really need to upgrade ur valvetrain...it really just depends on how high ur gonna rev...anything over 8500 at least upgrade ur inner valve springs on the intake side...
Hey Its goin to be a daily driver.. I don't want to spend no more than $2,000 on the rebuild.. i want to be in the 200 in hp atleast...

Get some pistons, and put a hefty shot of nitrous in the ****. I used wiseco pistons on my b18 and they haven't failed me yet!

Not going to happen, other wise everyone would have done it already.
Parts needed to even come close:
- a least a stage 2 cam, would also need valvespring upgrade
- High comp pistons
- adjustable cam gears
- programable ecu- should go obd1 upgrade
- new bearings, and gaskets
- port and polished head
- premium header and larger exhaust
- injectors reccomended
- some good time down at the dyno
You'll have you work cut out for you! and it'll be more than 2 grand.

2k is enough to do a basic buildup of a B16A. you can make some nice power, but it won't be 200whp, unless you add a small shot of nitrous. If you go nitrous, get some good pistons, like said above, and fuel management (like hondata) and spend some money on tuning it right.
hey thanks for the info.. was thinking about what u said, and it is goin to take alot more than 2k to get 200 hp on a b16.. I've decided to go ls vtec instead..
These are the parts I had on my old setup. Car got stolen before I could put the new parts however
JDM ITR tranny with LSD and final drive
brand new ITR clutch
brand new ITR flywheel
balanced and blueprinted block
polished crank
polished pistons
new piston rings
spoon head gasket
ported and polished head
Portflow inner valve springs
ITR outter valve springs
ITR cams
skunk 2 cam gears
skunk 2 titanum retainers
3 angle valve job
.020 milled off the head
ported header
custom intake
tanabe racing medallion
The parts I was gonna put on it were CTR pistons and a GSR head. I know the overall cost is $2000 in mind but I was pushing close to 200 crank horsepower with the old motor setup (motor was a freak). I think with the right mixing and matching of parts you can get a decent setup for $2000. With the CTR's, milled head, thinner headgasket, and GSR head you can have a b16 pushing close to 12.1:1 compression. Get the cams to make the most of that and you'll have one healthy B16

Hey was wondering, a 91 integera block and crank.. is this block n crank a good block n crank setup for ls vtec?
hey on a 91 integera block and crank, is this block and crank a good setup for ls vtec?
and what do u have all left from ur 91 dx hatch?

if you want to spend two grand but eagle rods your coice of pistons i would go high compression new gaskets arp studs blox head package and nitrous will be a good daily driver and put two hundred or more to the ground depending on what jet you use on a budget nitrous is you friend fast gain of hps
