Then there shouldn't be a clearence problem, unless it's a big unit. You can try using a civic radiator but I heard you have to tilt it for hood clearence.

Lol, why can't they make things easier for our cars? They make every darn part you can think of for the darn 92-95 Civic.

LOL, but then that would make us quitters if we get rid of our cars. Plus, they're old school cars.

hcp makes a front xmember where it gives clearance for turbos. you might have to notch the block webbing supports (?) for clearance.

Ok boys and girls. Listen up. I've got a 94+ LS DRAG III kit, powered LS in an 88 CRX HF. I am using a Place Racing mount kit. I'll list the problems that I ran into while doing my install.

1) The front crossmember is a pain. Your downpipe is NOT going to clear unless you either cut and re-weld the x-member so that it has a notch in it large enough to accomidate the downpipe. Or you can opt to be a redneck like me and just swing a 5lb sledge at it a couple of times and pound a dent in it large enough....it works if you don't have the resources to do it any other way.

2) With a Place Racing kit, the motor is placed forward in the bay a bit. This places the turbo housing like 1/4" away from the radiator. The isn't good enough. My solution was to flatten out the lower radiator support so the the bottom of the radiator would shift forward about 1.5"-2".

3) Now the 4th gen chassis have that notorious front x-member. It just plain gets in the way of everything, including the I/C piping. Now after I shifted the radiator I had just enough clearance to run my I/C piping along the front lip of the x-member, though I did have to cut my piping to route it. But then again I doubt there will ever be a direct-bolt in turbo kit for our cars, the are just too many variables.

Now most of these problems could be solved with a Z-10 cross member and dual core Del Sol VTEC radiator setup. However at the $500 price tag of th Z-10, and how ever much you can score($100~150?) that rare radiator for it's a personal preferance.

I run a DRAG 3 manifold as well. I have no A/C but I run my turbo in the A/c position(filter to the passenger side).

I have the HCP kit. All my charge pipes are custom and so is the hack job. The turbo sits about 1.5" away from the radiator. The DP clears the front x-member. But this piece is VERY twisted to fit.

yea the z-10 will come eventually some day just not now...reason im asking this question is cuz im still debating what route to go with this car...i have been staring a lot at my engine bay and it looks smaller and smaller everyday...i wanna go full N/A but then i always think that the max whp i would probably get on a N/A would be 210 probably...thats with a lot of work...where as i could charge the lil bastard and have 250whp easy...im just seeing which one would be less of a hassle...in any case thanks for the input guys...have one on me

Turbo is a pain in the ***. I think I have to fix or upgrade something on my car every weekend. I love it though that is why I keep spending money on my car.
