well ive been noticing that when i start up my car and let it idle for a while it starts to smell like gas really bad on the inside so pretty much i have to drive everywhere with the windows down so i dont pass out. lol so im not sure if this is a exhaust leak or what??? so if you guys have any ideas on what it is and how to fix it please let me know asap!!!

dude stop driving that car till u fix the problem...u do not have an exhaust leak u have a GAS leak...especially if u are saying that the smell is so strong that u have to roll down ur windows...
have a buddy nearby and start the car..u say the smell is very strong so more than likely it will be an obvious leak...check ur fpr,fuel rail...hose that goes from firewall to fpr...also on mounted on the firewall on the passenger side of ur car is a large canister shaped piece with gas lines running through it...check there as well...

 

i checked everything.....nothing is leaking gas... i forgot to mention that i have a stripped interior....does that have anything to do with it?

 

have u checked if you fuel filter leaking (bolt not tight)

 

was the car running when u searched for the leak...
because if u say ur getting that strong of a smell of raw gas there has to be a leak...stripped interior has nothing to do with it...i mean there is a chance that one of ur injectors got stuck open...does it have trouble starting? does it drive poorly?
i never really asked, is the smell of raw gas or half burnt gas?

 

its more of like a half burnt gas....not just raw gas. and yea my car was running when i checked it. and no i havnt checked my fule filter...where is it located?

i c...u r running rich... are u stock? CEL? code 1 maybe...have u checked ur spark plugs? are they still good/bad/fouled?

 

i know for a fact that stripped interior has nuttin to do about it cause i have my interior stripped.

 

well i bought the car like 2 weeks ago and when i got home i read the engine block and it said d15b7 so obviously the guy did an engine swap with out telling me so that may have something to do with it....but no i havnt checked my plugs and i dont kno how to check the ecu...i donno where it is at and i dont kno what CEL is lol im a noob...lol but ill check the plugs right now.

well checking for codes is quite easy for obd0 models...ur ecu is located on the passenger side under thecarpet by the firewall...there is a light in the middle of ur ecu..u use the light sequence to distinguish ur code/s...every long flash counts for 10 and the short flashes count for one..
!.....!.!.! for instance would read code 13
!.!.!.!= code 4
!....!.....!.! = 22... make sense?
so ur car has been converted to obd1?
what ecu are u running?

 

k well i just checked my ecu like 10 min ago and now its not doin anything? the only thing that i have done to my car today was take out my sound system....??? im so confused!!! car still smells like gas tho???

When you open your gas filler cap, do you hear woosh sound? The sound that compressed gasoline fume makes, you know.

If you don't hear that sound or the sound is weak, you may have bad tank, bad hose or something. You may not see raw gas leaking since it may be gasoline fume that escaping from the system. Have a spray bottle with sopy water and spray every thing that has something to do with gasoline. If there is fume leak, you would see bubbles. Make sure to spray where you cannot see. The leak may be happening on the other side away from line of sight.

This is how I did when I had raw gasoline smell in my 924S.

 

no, when i open it, it does that whoosh sound or w/e lol kinda freaked me out wasnt expecting it lol.

whoosh sound is good.

Check the spark pulgs for soot. Black deposit. The engine may be running too rich.

what ecu are u running?
u said thatthere is a b7 swapped in there...that is originally an obd1 motor...there is a chance that the previos owner messed up while converting it over

 

i donno what ECU i have.... how do u check? also is there a way i can just turn down the fuel so its not running rich?
