OK, I'm an idiot, I will admit.
So after reading so many stories about rod failure and rod bolt failure, I ALWAYS blamed the installer. Overtorqued, overstretched bolts, improper bearing clearances, etc.. I totally ignored posts like these:

I'm here to say, that was dumb, and now it has come full circle to bite me in the ***. Here is an example of what I'm talking about:

So anyway, I finally got my car together, seating the rings, and the car was making good power, about 529 at 21psi on a pump gas timing map with c16, so I had plenty of room to play. Had boost control problems and couldn't get past that, so replaced the wastegate diaphragm and retried today. The first pull at 24psi, rod broke in the #3 cylinder trashing any chance I had of running the car at an event this season, and I probably won't be able to finance the rebuild until after the first of the year.

I ran all last season and half of this season on crowers BUT I put manleys in my new motor just to be safe. Anyone want to buy some used crowers? lol
Really sorry to hear that Jared. I guess the clutch held up good though.

YEP i gave up on crower last season, bought a set of turbo cams and the exhaust cam snapped at the cam gear.(they had the nerve to say maybe i tightened it with an impact gun).
Then early last season i had a crower B16 stroker kit in my SFWD car, lasted about 30 runs then when it was time to crank up the boost,BAM on a 4th gear dyno pull the crank decides to snap in 2 pieces right between journal 1 and 2,The car almost leaped off the dyno breaking an axle, the twin disc,4th gear, ring gear, obliterating the entire bottom end and bent all the valves,at least i salvaged the head.
So when that happens i call em up,I asked how much power can there b series stroker kit hold and they said well over 800hp,I told them well the stroker you sold me a couple of months ago just split in half, thier reaction was(YEAH RIGHT NOT A CROWER CRANK, IMPOSSIBLE,send it over right away).
All in all they said it was a faulty crank, but were not liable for the extensive damages, and were willing to send me another stroker kit if i payed for the pistons.

Thanks for the support guys. I guess I'm going to put it back together after some steady convincing from my better half. It won't be anytime soon as my rough estimate is 3k if the block is savable. Looks like Manleys or Pauters this time.

I broke a crower before, but we figured out it was anything but the Rod failure. Although at first I seem to think it was the rod that just broke without any exlanation. I called Crower and they told me that the rod is only good for 600 whp, I was like WTF ?
needless to say, I was in a hurry and built it again with another set of crower, which has hold up for now. I am stumbled as you are, to where if it's the crower thing or something else, but either way, good luck to you.

I got everything torn down tonight. With this much carnage it's hard to tell what really happened. I'm pretty sure one of the rod bolts broke cause the problem. One side of the rod is pushed in more than the other making it look like it was still spinning very quickly after one of the bolts broke. However, I'm not beyond thinking the big end of the rod could have become unround. On another note, the block is probably not gonna be savable, head may not be either.
Dude, I feel like an *** for asking you how your car was earlier today. I had no clue this happened.
I'll stop by tomorrow to take a look and let you know if Robert or Don can fix the head.
