there are two. one for a ls DA, and one for a DB2 (gsr). the ls one is long geared and the gsr one is short geared.

I don't know the teeth count, but like you said you have to count the teeth. Either that or go for a test drive. My short YS1 sits at about 2k in 5th gear, going 30mph.

lol. there's no mistaking a short ys1 for a long one on a test drive.

open it up and count the teeth on the fifth gear pair and divide and you'll get the gear ratio for the fifth gear. 0.880 is GSR, 0.742 is LS.

why are you building a drag car and have such a simple question? perhaps you should spend more time learning....nothing like a paddawan learner trying to become a jedi before his time

do you have a stock tach? they dont read exact
do you have a cable tranny? does it say ys1 on the casing?

if yes to these questions then you most likely have a GSR

I'm just getting into the game. I'm 56, and used to do Chevy small block wrenching as a kid, and now am looking forward to Hondas. Just wanted to say, that I expect that cracking the case is easier than mounting a tranny and driving it at 70 in 4th gear, don't you think? Can't be afraid to unbolt the stuff if you're gonna be serious. If you gotta learn by losing, you're still learning. Expensive, that's all!!
