how to get hoses off the engine?

Grip them with a pair of pliers then move the pliers side to side until you can feel that the hose is loosened then pull the hose off. It wouldnt be a bad idea to mark where the hose goes back on with some tape if you plan on removing more then one hose. That way you wont be confused.
