Default Cam seal question

I noticed on my girlfriends car her cam seal was leaking, so i looked further and noticed that the seal was sticking out, roughly, 1/16 of an inch from the motor.

So, my question is....should I replace it, or could i simply tap it back in?
And if i can't tap it back in, tell me why if you can

You can get the alloy seals for like $10 all over the place. They really only take about 20 min to install.

Yeah when you pull the valve cover, your going to want to replace the gasket, go down to your local dealer, gasket will run you about 10$.

yea I was kinda figuring that i could get it out from the outside, because it's sticking out a tad. I could probably get a screwdriver or two behind the gap and pry it out. But taking off the valve cover isn't hard at all. And after the valve cover, it's just removing the cam holder plate bolts on the exhaust cam only. They are 12 mm bolts on the inner holders and 10 mm on the outer holders.

here's a good link i've found

http://www.team-integra.net/se...D=576

read all the pages and it'll sound easy as pie.

i dont have anything in the way of my front cam like the gsr picture..the seal is wide open...instead of removing all of the bearing caps/plate...could i get away with removing just the cap over the seal and sneak it out and in or should i still take out all of them and pry up the cam a little?.. i dont wanna go thru more hassle than i need to if someone has done this in an easier way... i work for volkswagen and the cam seals are a bitch on those so i was just wondering if there is a still effective shortcut?

Remove the valve cover, then remove the cap on the left that covers the cam seal..

r/r cam seal..

replace cap. torque to spec.

then install valve cover, torque to 9ft.lbs

The last time I changed one of these it took about 4 minutes. Really and truly, it's nothing to sweat over.
