jdm access 3rd brakelight question?
so i just recieved my honda access high mount brakelight today, (the one that lights up green and says "accord") and when i was examining the light bulb and socket and the wiring that was cut i noticed that after the plug it comes out with 4 wires, 2pwr and 2gnd...this is the first time i noticed this, and now that i think about it i ve seen an ef version and it stays on constantly, so i wondering if anyone knows how the proper way to wire it up would be?
something like a taillight where it is on then gets brighter when the brakes are applied or maybe is on during w/o headlights on but turns off when the lights are turned on so it can be used as a brakelight? im not sure but if anyone knows or could shed any insight it would be appreciated..

also i just looked and it appears to be a single filament bulb even though the bulb sockets are completley different....(my old usdm one, and the jdm one)
...have you thought about using 2 wires as 1... conecting the 2 red ones together and the 2 black ones together too... and then... connecting to the ones you need to connect...
...know what i mean?
....well... i would try that...

yeah, i just plugged it in. it works fine as a brakelight, i am just wondering where the other set of pwr and gnds would normally go on a japanese car...

Yes but its not JDM
They're one of the more rare parts for the Accord as well, and cool as hell (my avatar)
Okay here's what I did with mine.
I bought the entire 3rd brake light assembly which also happened to be a different color interior then mine. The brake light housing comes apart quite easily (just several screws) and there is a plate in there that has the 'Accord' graphic on it. That just pops out.
What I did is take my USDM housing and removed the red USDM plate and placed the green JDM 'Accord' plate in the USDM housing. That way you don't have to mess with relays and bulbs and connections, or in my case, painting the housing. Its really simple and mine works awesome.
Its really bright and I get compliments on it constantly. No po-po problems either

yes, i also took mine apart as it came in a dark grey interior but mine is the light blue...so i swapped them..
but anyways i think i figured it out...i remember seeing an auction for an ef civic one and it came with a relay or something that steped down the voltage from 12v to 3v. so now maybe im thinking that when the headlights are on its getting 3volts so it is lit up dimly but when the brakes are applied it gets the 12v from the other set of wires making it brighter...
does that make scense to anyone and would it work?
