Black smoke out of exaust?
My friend was following behind me (like usual) and he noticed, on the freeway when I was in vtec and shifting, that during my shift black smoke would puff out the exaust. My dad says it might be burt fuel, or it not burning right...
I dunno though...

Sounds normal. I can't think of any broken in Honda that does not blow a little smoke in V-Tech. You'll notice smoke when you first start your engine also. The motor runs very rich when cold. You more than likely have nothing to worry about !
The black smoke is from unburnt fuel. And, in b/w shifts at WOT or high rpm, it causes a temporary rich condition with nowhere else to go and nothing else to do but leave from the exhaust.
I believe that in general:
Black smoke = fuel (rich)
white smoke = water (condensation) or perhaps coolant if it's bad
blue smoke = oil
My bumper is black so I'm just hoping it turns my whole car black and I won't have to paint, lol. I also have some blue smoke though

well, I'm glad to see it's normal (yes I noticed smoke when starting it up too), just doesn't say much in the manual about it
my friend made a big deal about it like it was bad. You can tell he doesn't know much about cars though but I guess I dont either.
